I ultimately decided not to select D as an answer as it described the AAT as an enzyme. The passage never indicated that such a protein exhibited catalytic or enzymatic function (only that it was a protease inhibitor).

I certainly understood the reasoning, but it seemed incorrect to say it was an enzyme.

That's absolutely fair, especially since the passage specifically describes it as an inhibitor. We're correcting that as we speak. Thanks for pointing this out!
