There is local school in my area. They offer a guaranteed interview if you submit all your stuff by August 1st (obviously past august 1st, but for next cycle). BUT, they restrict you from applying to other schools till October 1st (they will give a decision by then). What should someone do if this situation comes up ? The guranteed interview just gives an interview does not guarantee a spot, but does raise your chances. But, in reality by how much ? Is it a great risk by putting all your cards in one basket till october 1st ?

Try to get advice from that school's dean, and see if you have a strong chance at that school.

What school is this? It sounds like you are guaranteed an interview if you apply "EDP", not as just a regular applicant.

This is called EDP, and I would suggest strongly against it unless that is the only school you have a serious interest in attending. Going the EDP rout will kill your chances everywhere else.

What does EDP mean ?

early decision plan. It's rarely a good deal unless you have amazing stats, and even then, it's still risky. I would be skeptical of a guaranteed interview ...remember, this means someone with a 2.8/25 is also guaranteed an interview if they finish by aug 1, and odds are, they have literally no chance of getting in. It just doesn't sound like getting an interview as part of EDP is a step closer to acceptance at this school, if they give it to everyone.

Um, where the hell did they tell you someone with a 2.8 and 25 gets an interview for EDP?

he was giving an example. Obviously only a fool would apply with those stats, but a 3.5 and a 30ish MCAT gives u a very good chance I would think

Still, it's pretty much stated in EDP site the requirements/ recommended requirements. Oh well, reading comprehension...ftl

I'm not sure what you are referring to at all...the 2.8/25 comment wasn't about EDP in general. If you read the first line of the OP's post, he says that his school "offers a guaranteed interview if you submit all your stuff by August 1st." I was simply responding to that statement, under the assumption that it is accurate and comes with no strings attached. Of course, I don't know what school this is, or whether this "guarantee" is actually contingent on minimum stats.
