I was having a bit of a problem using the biochemistry section of the deck. A lot of the questions take a sentence from first aid, omit the most important word and ask you to recall. However when your done recalling the word it adds a lot of this extra information from First aid which the card did not explicitly ask for but is somehow related. Any tips on recalling this extra information or is it merely extraneous information that serves as background information and you don't need to explicitly recall.
Ex.
".... is a form of phenylketonuria that arises due to a lack of proper dietary therapy during pregnancy."
In the top Maternal PKU is the answer. However the problem arises because in the answer it adds all of the symptoms of Maternal PKU:
"Infant presents with microcephaly, intellectual disability, growth ******ation and congenital heart defects."
Now in this scenario it may have been obvious that if its asking for the disease I might also want to recall the symptoms. However this is not the case.
For example:
....... is a disorder of amino acid metabolism that can result from a decreased affinity of Cystathionine Synthase for Pyridoxal Phosphate (Vitamin B6).
The answer is homocytinuria. But in contrast to the first card it does not give the symptoms of homocystinuria in the extra information but gives the treatment.
Treatment: greatly increased B6 and increased cysteine in the diet.
