I know this is early, but I am an anxious person and am just curious/excited about this entire process.

I am currently a 23 year-old post bacc student and could not be happier. I graduated in May 2010 with a business degree, and started my post-bacc at my alma mater, taking approx 49 credits. The post-bacc concludes in May 2012, so I will be taking the DAT and then applying for the Fall 2013 cycle.

I have two options and would be interested to hear from seasoned vets!

Option 1: During my spring 2012 semester, (organic II and organic lab, a biochem and maybe a sculpting class) study for the DAT and then take it around may or june, allowing me to submit the app as soon as it becomes available. STUDY TIME: 6 months, part time

Option 2: I am paying for my apt during the summer months, so option 2 is to finish the semester may 6, and then from that point until the end of july study full time, in the apartment. This would only be about three months of studying, but it would be full time. Also, this would mean not being able to submit apps until the middle of the summer. STUDY TIME: 3 months, full time.

Other question: what is the consensus of sending apps in june 1 with DAT pending? is that a good move? i dont know why but i just feel like this is a bad move if grades are not stellar. hypothetically I am looking at applying as a 3.5 business major, and as of right now completing the post bacc with a 3.7-3.9 which is pretty good. Are you telling me that there is absolutely no difference of an applicant who submits everything with those above grades, DAT pending, compared to another student who submits EVERYTHING together in August with the same grades? I just feel like the second candidate, all grades the same would just come off as a better applicant.

Thanks for all the input in advance.

in my opinion, this is a no-brainer. Option 1 all the way 👍
From looks of it, ur overall GPA is going to be above 3.5 (guessing 3.6X), and the same for science GPA which are great. Strategically speaking, because ur GPA is strong, you don't need to "dominate" the DAT, the 6 month of part-time DAT preparation is good enough to land you a respectable score.... Your particular case doesn't need 3-months of full-time preparation (at the expense of applying late ~ august)

Applying early = early interviews = MORE interviews (than if you applied late)

Do what you think is best because this is all opinion. I would option 2. I needed to spend a lot of time on the DAT, so I had to study full time. Other people may be able to remember things they studied 5 months ago, but I'm not good at that.

However, if you take the DAT in the beg. of August, make sure you still submit your application in June! It is unacceptable to wait. Aadsas takes a really long time to process your application. Mine was submitted on June 4, and then processed, and sent to my schools July 2! Don't wait to apply!

It takes approx 4 weeks for AADSAS to receive DAT scores. So even if he submits the application in June, it won't be complete till early September
