If a fellowship allows applicants to begin submitting applications as of July 2, but the programs are not allowed to begin reveiwing applications until July 16, is there an advantage to submitting an application on the first day allowable (July 2), or is there no advantage to submitting early as long as an application is submitted before July 16? I am assuming that waiting until after July 16 would be indvisable. I am asking because all LORs have been uploaded as of July 2, but have not yet been verified by ERAS (I understand that the ERAS verification time can vary but is around 5 business days).

Assuming ERAS functions the same way for fellowship as it does for residency, there is no benefit to uploading early as long as you upload before the July 16 deadline. Programs typically download all the apps in a batch once they can access them, and if you upload after they've downloaded them, you've kind of missed the boat.

Fellowship programs aren't going to look at the date you submitted - the expectation is that of course you're passionate about the field and that you are capable of being organized to meet deadlines. Submitting 7/2 is totally effect neutral.

I would disagree that a fellowship director is going to limit their application downloads to just a single point in time. That would be a really terrible way to miss out on good candidates. I'm not advocating that you wait until ERAS closes, but as long as you are getting things in to ERAS in a reasonable timeframe, submission date is not going to affect your status.
