I'm thinking about taking a year or two to do research before medical school. Anyone know of Master programs in Cell/Molecular that do this?

Thanks,

Scott

I'm not sure about programs that accept the MCAT instead of the GRE, but I do now that the GRE is a helluva lot easier than the MCAT. So don't let not wanting to take the GRE hold you back. Though - I do understand not wanting to take more tests than necessary!!!

I applied to a bunch of Ph.D programs (I'm finishing one now), and when I applied I didn't see any of the schools to accept MCAT instead of GRE. Things could have changed over time though (it's been about 5 years since I applied).

I'm in a PhD program now and I think they all require GRE. But the GRE is really easy compared to the MCAT. I didn't study one second and I did fine. If you studied for like a week or two you'd probably do really well, assuming you've already done okay on the MCAT.

Check out actual medical schools that offer non-MD degress. The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine gives out PhDs and MSs as opposed to the JHU grad school (which also does, obviously). The SOM grad school has a few programs that accept the MCAT in leiu of the GRE. I don't know if they allow that for Master's degrees though.

-X
