Okay, I am currently studying for the MCAT and will be taking it in April. However, I have not taken Bio II yet. I am doing fine with bio as far as the MCAT goes since I am taking a prep course and not worried. But, I plan on to apply to med schools in upcoming cycle for class of 2011. Here's the problem, my school only offers Bio II in spring semester, therefore, I will not be able to take it until spring 2007. Do you think it will be a disadvantage to apply without Bio II on my transcript? Will they even look at my application seriously? Should I spend some cash and take it over the summer? Please help me out here as I have no clue. Thanks.

Personally speaking, Bio II is not necessary to do well on the MCAT. Bio II is mostly environmental based, while the MCAT focuses more on Bio I science material. If you are planning to take a prep course, I don't see the necessity to take Bio II before the MCAT. As for the application, they will make their decision based on the GPA, MCAT, ECs, and LORs that you provide and that are in front of them. On the application, they will see all the classes you have taken AND plan to take in the future. As long as you finish all the required classes upon matriculation you should be fine. No worries, good luck 🙂

Hey thanks for your reply. I actually agree with you on the MCAT point. I mentioned that I am not worried about it for the MCAT purposes since I am currently enrolled in a prep course. I have actually gone back and edited my initial post since I wasn't very clear. I thank you for your input on the application though. So it will not be a significant disadvantage if I take Bio II in spring 07? Do you think they will hand me an acceptance without at least making sure that I am enrolled?
