Hello there,

Thanks for reading...my question is regarding what exactly constitutes being called a reapplicant. I am planning to apply this cycle but my MCAT scores don't come in til June 22nd and I'm not confident to be sure that I will go through with the application this cycle. I may want to retake the test and apply next year if I don't do so well. Would it be okay if I applied in the first week of June to get verified by only selecting one school and if my MCAT score isn't so hot I'll withdraw before schools even start reading the apps on June 24th? Would I be considered a reapplicant to schools that I didn't even apply to or would schools be able to see that I only applied to one school and withdrew my application if I waited to apply next year? If so, would they look down upon this?

Thanks so much in advance for any advice/help!!!!!

If you are this unsure about your MCAT performance I would wait until you receive your score before you submit the application - it may cost you a little bit of time, but it'll sure save you a lot of hassle. Relating to the rest of your question - I'm not sure, but I think you would only be considered a reapplicant at the school which you listed on your primary app.

Yes, you would technically be considered a re-applicant at that one school. Only a handful of schools ask you if you are a re-applicant on the secondary, and, if so, usually only if you are a re-applicant at that particular school.

This is a fine strategy to get verified early. Don't sweat it.

I disagree with this advice. The verification process gets longer and longer the later you submit your primary. A mid-June submission will be about a two-week verification. An early July submission will be a 3-4 week verification. The wait increases even more from there, I believe.
