Just a quick one:

I called a cardiologist's office a couple days ago, and the receptionist told me that the doc is open to students shadowing, and to send him an email (she gave me the email). I sent the email, and the doc has yet to respond in any fashion. Should I send a follow-up email, and if so, how much longer should I wait to do so?

I would wait a week and if the doctor has not answered I would try calling the receptionist and asking what they suggest. They may tell you to send another email, give an office line, or that they will talk w/ the doc in person.

Give it a week and if he doesn't reply, shoot him another email ("I'm not sure if my previous email came through", etc.) and give the receptionist a call after you send it. You can ask him/her to remind the doc.
