So I am in my fourth year of UG, I am a double science major and played 2 years of D1 hockey. My question.... how important are my sciences compared to my other classes? I have a 3.49 sgpa, but my overall gpa is only a 3.2. This semester for example, I had 2 A- a B+ and an A in my sciences, and received a C in Catholicism today. How much will this effect my chances of getting into a dental school? I haven't taken the DAT yet but plan on doing so in a month (im going to grad school next year). I want to kick myself sometimes because I really like science, but being a double major means taking 18 credits with 3 labs usually in a semester, and this has definitely effected my gpa, I just hope that I didnt make the wrong decision/trying to do too much.

It's usually the other way around for most people. Dental schools weigh the science gpa more than the overall gpa. You're in good shape with a 3.49 sgpa. But, try not to accumulate a bunch of C's in non-science courses. Whether it's science class or not, a C does not look well on your application. Keep up the good work.

Your science GPA is very important. After all dentistry is science! Taking 18 units should not be as a justification for performing poorly at school, because when you get into dental school you'll have the same workload if not more! Your science GPA is about average and your overall GPA is on the low side. But a decent DAT score should compensate for that. A, A-, and B+ are all respectful grades for science classes, so you seem to be on the right tract.

Good luck👍

Yeah you really should be fine. Keep working your GPA up a little bit and rock the DAT, and you should be in good shape 🙂. I had around the same sGPA and it ended up going well for me, so keep up the good work and try to avoid C's!

Your science GPA is important because that's what dental admissions put emphasis on, as in dental school, you will be taking a lot of science courses. with that said, the schools would want you to do well in other subjects too.

GPA looks okay. i wouldn't worry too too much about it unless you want to go to harvard or something 🙂)), but i suggest you raise it more since you have a semester left. and ace your DAT!

🙂 good luck to you!
