i want that rapid-fire guy from tufts. it would just be so crazy that it would be fun...kind of like a rollercoaster.

Not that I'd actually say that, of course. But the voices would be saying, "Come on!! Do it!!!" :meanie:

*sigh*

Conformity.

Seriously, I would want a guy who asks extremely stressful questions. Last year, one of my interviewers asked me some of the hardest questions I've ever heard, and that was the best interview I had. The questions were so ridiculously difficult, they were fun. The minute I sat down with him, he said this to me, "So your GPA is not that great, you don't come from a well-known school, your MCAT is below average for us, and you've been arrested. Why the hell should we accept you?" He actually turned out to be a really nice guy and hinted at the end of the interview that he thought I'd get accepted. Too bad my next interviewer turned out to be a jerk...

What can we do to get you to come to our school? Private secretary? Segway?

Tell me about your research? How/why is it important?
Big time. I could talk forever (or briefly) and make it sound very important (it is).

Do people actually get asked that question? It's so lame. It's not narrowly focused. It allows someone to ramble on. The only good that can come from that question is it provides segues into other, more specific questions that actually make you learn more about the candidate.

But I bet they do.

You'd be surprised how many interviewers don't ask why you want to be a doctor.

Yes, they do ask about research, all the time. If you don't like vague questions, I'm sorry for you, because some interviews are all vague questions - "Tell me about yourself," "Tell me about your hobbies," "Tell me about your research," etc. They help the interviewer learn how you deal with vague questions. It's up to you to give them more information about yourself.

"Why medicine" and "So tell me about yourself" (questions that come up in every interview) = "I haven't read anything in your file, let alone your personal statement--why don't you do the work for me" 😀

BTW, do you like Iron Maiden? They've got a song called Prowler.
I know a few of their songs, but the name stems from the car mostly, and because it sounded cool when I originally picked it (and now I stick with it so I don't have to remember 50 usernames).

So, what makes you a #1 gunner? At which point I would begin clucking around the office and chewing on various papers.
