Has anyone ever heard of a case where an applicant is denied via letter from one of the schools early in the process, and re-offered an interview later in the season?

You mean a case where the admissions committee reverses a decision where they already reject someone pre-interview?

I've never heard of that in any health professional school (Podiatry, Optometry, Dental, etc). Even Podiatry technically gets more applicants than seats that are available, so I don't see why a particular school would consider giving someone a second chance in the same cycle after they have been sent a rejection.

Yeah if you got a rejection letter it is pretty much game over for this round at least. Perhaps next year with improving you CV can get an acceptance letter

Let's not kid ourselves, I bet a school would reconsider you if something drastic changed.

Let's say you have a 3.2 GPA, your mom got cancer, and you ran over your dog on your way to the MCAT and you ended up scoring a 12. For some reason (you heard it was easy to get into podiatry school), so you apply with a 12 anyways. You soon realize that some students have individual section scores higher than you and you get denied at every school. Let's say this is early in the cycle - it's September. You decide to bust your butt and study for your MCAT non stop until January. You take it again and you get a 38 this time.

You better believe a school will upturn it's decision if you got a 38. Will this ever happen? No, probably not. You would need a drastic change in your application. Not something like your GPA went up by .1 or you volunteered 30 more hours. But rather you're MCAT improved by over 10 points, or you are the lead reattached
