I’m also curious to know what extent admins actually check ECs. I realize I over estimated about 15 hours for two of my activities. Maybe @Goro or @LizzyM can give us an inside look.
If the amount of time per hour listed seems fishy, they'll probably verify it pre-II. (E.g. 1200 hours earned in 2 months. When there are only 1488hrs in 2 months worth of time)
If you have an acceptance, your hours probably aren't fishy enough to raise any brows. However, that doesn't mean you're in the clear. They might still be verifying your hours up until matriculation to make sure you haven't lied either. While it's uncommon, acceptances have been rescinded on the basis of extremely falsified hours.
TL;DR: Schools could potentially be verifying your hours at all stages of the process, up until even after you matriculate.
I'm more or less asking for advice on what to do about my situation. I have heard of stories about medical students getting kicked out of school because of falsifying hours, would my case fall into that category given my explanation? That's really the important question that needs to be answered.
