Hi Guys!!
I am currently going to University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.
And This is my very first year in Undergrad. 🙂
I really wanna be dentist, but i don't know what i have to do first.
Please give me advices.

1) What do i have to prepare for dental schools from my freshman year?
Ex) acitivity, internship, summer school, etc...

2) Which courses are helpful to go dental schools?

These are two questions that i am curious about.

Thank you guys!!

Have a wonderful day!!

well take the pre-dental classes. Another thing you want to do is to start doing some dental volunteering. The idea is is that you want to have experience , and you want to build some relationships with the dental faculty. Start building relationships with the dentists that you are volunteering for. What matters in that case is quality rather than quantity. I myself only volunteered/shadowed for one dentist. But I did it for 3 years. Keep the GPA high and although people may not want to admit it. THe GPA is a very big thing. Ya, you can get into dental school with a "low" GPA, but if you have a high GPA it just makes things so much easier is the long run. Thats about it, just make sure you are taking those pre-dental classes...i.e. your general and organic chemistry, and your bio classes and whatever else your school recommends. Overall right now if I were you, the number one thing you want to do is to keep that GPA high, concentrate on getting good grades on all your classes and do some dental volunteering, and that will take you a long way.

For the record I got into the following dental schools : UF, UMich, Temple, and Nova .

I'm a senior at UIUC, so here's a couple of things that should help:

1. Join the Pre-Dental Club. Dental Deans come every year, and being in the club will help you get to talk to them.

2. Study hard for your organic chem classes. CHEM 232, the intro organic class, is a major pre-med weed-out class. If you study in there, you'll be well ahead of the curve, so you'll get an A in there. I'd suggest taking CHEM 332, as well.
