Here's the deal...my parents have paid for my education throughout my entire life, from expensive private school to college and they plan on footin the bill for dental school as well. My family has a good amount of money so it most likely would not be a huge burden for them to pay for it. However, recently I have been feeling really guilty. I'm seriously considering declining their offer to pay for my dental school (and just taking out loans) because I feel like they deserve a good, comfortable retirement and dropping well over 200k on dental school won't help that. I feel that my parents would definitely reject this idea, so I'm wondering, what would be the best way to broach this topic with them?

The same way you approached us, honest and sincere. Seriously just tell them how you feel and how you care about them and worry about their retirement. If you are going to be a dentist, that loan isn't going to be a problem. 95% + of students take out loans anyways, so just let them know man. If they insist on giving you the money, save it and take out a loan anyways and use it in emergencies or give it back to them when you graduate.
Don't feel guilty. Feel lucky. Most parents (including mine) don't have the money to be able to do that for their children--as much as they'd like to. I'm sure your parents can't think of a more valuable way of spending 200k than to invest in their child's future and success. There's nothing to feel guilty about. Here's the deal...my parents have paid for my education throughout my entire life, from expensive private school to college and they plan on footin the bill for dental school as well. If you want to build credit or feel like you're doing your part, tell your parents you'll pay for cost of living. That way you'll learn responsibility, get familiar with the loan system, and not feel as guilty about them "footin the bill". It'll also be easier to argue your case for this than to pay for the entire cost of everything😉
Tell them that you're trading places with me, and they cant help "foot" my bill from now on... I'm kidding.
Tell them sincerely how you feel, no hiding or covering anything up. Kind of how you explained in your own post. If they say no, I guess tell them they can do halves but not the whole bill then?
You're one lucky person!

Maybe your parents aren't the type that let you struggle and figure out ur own life. I know my parents would never let me pay if they had enough money, so I understand how you feel.
In your case, I'd say let them pay for ur dental education. But when time comes, pay them back and help them have that happy and comfortable retired life that you talk of. Don't ever forget to return favor and step up to their expectations because I think thats all they will expect from you when you are done w/ ur education.
What I would do if I were lucky enough to be in your shoes is: I would let them pay for it and I would pay them back when I begin profiting with my practice. Their money will save you the interest that would accrue with loans and that is just smart. If you explain how important this is to you they will welcome your paying it back and they will be proud of you. You sound like a good person and good luck.

Borrow the money from them, interest free, then pay them back once you complete school
