I started a pre-med advising club a few years ago along with a few friends. I wanted to list it on AMCAS because it shows leadership, blah blah blah. Problem is, the club never really left the ground. We actually spent a decent number of hours putting it together, getting funding...but then the next semester hit and nobody had time for it; also, we were going to give "honest critiques" on professors (how to do well in their classes, things to keep in mind for them), and everybody got scared off from putting their name to these opinions, thinking the prof's may eventually find out about negative comments.

Is it leadership to just start a club?

Wondering if I should mention it at all...

You started a "pre-med advising club" but you haven't gotten into med school yet?

Amusing.

Yeah that's what it was called, but only because it was our target audience; what we were going to do could have applied to other bio majors. I don't need to be in med school to give advice/opinions on classes and professors at my college...

I wouldn't put it. You had no members. Who were you leading?

If you still have a slot left over after you've filled in all your other activities, I might put it and say exactly what you said in this thread: i.e., "I tried to start this club, but it failed to take off; still, it was a learning experience because I learned from this failure and I got experience in fundraising, etc. Learning that people were unwilling to put their names to unpopular opinions was edifying to me because blahblahblah... I applied the knowledge I gained here to other activities, in which I was more succcessful..." But only do this if you have absolutely nothing else with which to fill up the EC slots. And if you're going to do it, don't try to pass it off as something more successful than it was, since adcoms will see straight through you and that smacks of resume-padding/dishonesty.

I wouldn't use it because your club never got off the ground.
