Hi guys! I just finished my PTCAS app and am working on supplemental apps for this cycle. I have not yet taken anatomy and will not be able to do so until spring semester. The schools I'm applying to (UCSF/SFSU, CSUN, Chapman, GWU, UIC, UW) all allow two prerequisites in progress at the time of application but I'm assuming that having anatomy as one of those prereqs is probably looked down upon. I have already taken physio and received an A.

Additionally, I am not sure if I will be able to get any inpatient hours before the Oct1st deadline of some of my schools - I have 200 outpatient orthopedic hours right now as a PT aide and am in the process of gaining hospital shadowing experience, but I probably won't start until October, and some schools have their hours deadlines before then. I will be going to local SNFs this week to see if I can squeeze in a few hours before Oct 1st but it's gonna be a close call.

Will these factors be extremely detrimental to my application? My PTCAS GPAs are 3.54 cumulative, 3.59 prereq, graduated from UCLA with a BS in biology. GRE: 165 V/166 Q/5.5 AW. I also have extensive research experience. Thanks!

Honestly, I like your numbers. That being said, I don't have much experience in this regard. Your GPA is solid enough to be considered on almost any level and the GRE scores are quite good. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you except for the fact that your GPA outstrips mine by a long shot and you have more research. Have only about 30-40 inpatient hours so far since I can't go more than once a week for 2 hours at a time.

My opinion (consider it for all its worth), I think you'll be okay. Just ace anatomy when you get the chance.

By the way, I may have come across you at UCLA. I graduated December of 2011 with a BS in Neuroscience.
