Hi everyone,

Nikki again <33

"Early Decision Admission Track" is a term that is pretty self explanatory (you submit an application early on in the cycle stating your commitment to its school).
However, I'm sure there are more nuance detail to this agreement.
I have been trying to find more information on this but couldn't find anything.
I'm wondering if you guys can help me <33

I would like to know
1) Which schools offer this (I heard: Western, DMU, vcom, atsu, marian)
2) Benefit of doing this
3) Negative of doing this
4) Anything I should be aware (most osteopathic schools require minimum 3.5 gpa)

Thanks <33

P.S. Just found this thread (dated back to 1999)

2) Benefit acceptance by Oct. 25th possible and relax for the rest of the year. Save yourself the trouble of picking between multiple schools. Save interviewing, secondary, and primary money.
3) If not accepted, you would be disadvantaged to applying to other schools. Stuck with that one school. Don't get to check out other schools.
4) Just make sure you meet the minimum for EDP at the school you're applying too. If you would get accepted to the school via EDP, it most likely you would be accepted through regular admission anyways.

Generally speaking, unless you have a #1 top choice med school that's far above the rest, its not worth it to do early decision admission. Most people who get in early would get in if they applied early anyway. The risk really is having to commit to the school and not applying to others until you get a response from the early decision school.

I agree with the others. The early decision sounds great, but you're not allowed to apply anywhere else until you have heard back from the other school. If you were rejected, the timing may be less than ideal to apply to other schools (basically you may be at a disadvantage)
