I came home and I had interview requests from OCPM and TUSPM. I just took my MCAT today, so they don't even have my MCAT scores yet. I do not feel very confident that I did well today, as I did not finish all the sections on time.

Is it common to receive an interview request without scores?

The Ohio letter states that I have to have acceptable scores sent in before I matriculate. Does this mean I can re-take the MCAT in a few months and still be accepted if my initial score is below their accepted MCAT score?

Do you think I should schedule the interviews ASAP, or wait for my scores to be released? I am going to call the schools on Monday to ask them this as well.

Thanks for the input.

IMO, id go ahead and get the interviews scheduled for sooner than later since they go on rolling admissions.. i think you should be able to take the MCAT several times between now and oh say july and get scores back ...of course talk to the admissions staff about it.

Congrats on the interviews and fyi, i thought i did HORRIBLE when i came home from the MCAT. Was a nice surprise when i got my scores. maybe itll be the same for you

don't feel bad abut the MCAT...been there done that! I yet have to meet someone who has walked out of that test feeling super confident...it's a horrible test...so don't stress out yourself too much! Even if you did bad, you can always retake it
As far as the interviews are concerned, I would go ahead and interview... from what i understand some people get conditional acceptances, meaning they have to attain a certain MCAT score before they are fully accepted and matriculate...might as well go to the interview and reserve a spot (I am sure you'll be fine)
But yeah, I certainly wouldn't wait until it's too late...for interviews
There are a couple ppl, like JEWmongus that have been accepted w/out the MCAT...maybe they could tell you more about it....
Good Luck!!!

Ditto...

When I first got out of the test...I almost cried.

I was shocked to actually get the results back. :wow:

I think it's a double-edged sword...The travel expenses for interviews can be crazy...but you don't know if you don't try...

By the way...why did you switch from pharmacy to PodMed?

tuspm, are you a class of 2011 or 2012?

edit- nevermind, forgot about that undergrad bchem vs. podmed bchem thread

Hey guys. I feel like My GPA is lower than the bulk of the applicants, and i feel that it's due to me going to a competitive college and majoring in biochem. I took many upper level bio and chem classes, such as quantum mechanics, analytical chemistry, 2 semesters of biochem among others. If i was asked questions during my interview about my grades would what i said earlier be an acceptable response, or would that sound like I'm making excuses?

My MCAT score however is higher than the average for most schools. I am banking on the fact that they will use my MCAT score as an equalizing factor.

depends what else you bring to the table

I agree to that statement for a school like Scholl, they are one of the few schools that actually look at your application - Holistically.....

Other schools will just see your MCAT score and you'll be in- no questions asked....it's unfortunate -- but thats why its the "great equalizer"..

👍

its really sad that some pod schools will let you in solely because you did OK on the MCAT. 🙁
