Hi,

I'm considering applying to podiatry schools next year and have a few questions about the profession.

1. Am I a good candidate?
  • 3.1 cumulative GPA; ~2.8 science GPA
  • MCAT = 37
  • No research; minimal volunteer experience
2. What's the income potential (esp. if working in partnership with other podiatrists)?
3. How does the job market look? I checked the Bureau of Labor Statistics, but was hoping to get your opinion.
4. Do podiatrists perform any sort of reconstructive surgeries, or are surgical procedures limited to debridements and amputations?
5. Are podiatrists involved in clinical research?

Thanks and all the best.

Bascially:
1 - yes
2 - search
3 - pretty promising if you're good at what you do
4 - yes, you can do reconstruction
5 - yes, although there needs to be more pods devoted to research than are currently
