Hi there ! I'm new to the forum and I'm a high school applicant in Grade 12 from Ottawa, Canada. I sent off my Atlantic Bridge application in November and I applied to RCSI, TCD and UCD for Medicine. My final Grade 11 marks were sent off initially but then my first term Grade 12 marks were sent in a couple of days later. I'm doing the IB Diploma Programme. I was invited to interview for a spot at RCSI but I have yet to hear from the other schools (I know I won't hear from them for a least a month or so). My marks are as follows:

Edit: I think I'll just wait it out plus I don't want to leave my stats up so long 🙂

I was invited to interview for a spot at RCSI but I have yet to hear from the other schools (I know I won't hear from them for a least a month or so). My marks are as follows:

Grade 11
Math 85%
English 86%
Chemistry 87%
Biology 88%
Economics 83%
French 90%

Grade 12
Math 94%
English 86%
Chemistry 90%
Biology 89%
Economics 89%
French 93%

So my questions are as follows:

1) What do you think my chances are for getting into UCD?
2) Does TCD offer a direct entry program out of high school? Looking around the forums I don't see any high school applicants in the past few years who have applied and/or been accepted but my cousin applied several years ago out of high school via ABP and he got in.
3) If TCD does offer a direct entry program out of high school, what do you think my chances are for getting in?

Sorry for the long post, I just REAALLLY want to get into TCD and/or UCD for Medicine they are my 1st and 2nd choice med schools respectively.

All help and advice is thoroughly appreciated. Thank you 🙂

I'm pretty sure TCD does not offer a direct entry program for high school. How did you apply to a school without knowing whether or not it offers a high school direct entry program????

Your chances of UCD will very much depend on your extracurriculars. If you don't have healthcare related work you probably won't get in. UCD tends to be harder than the rest because it offers lower tuition fees than RCSI and is the most prestigious of the 3 high school 6 year programs RCSI, NUIG and UCD.

There was no indication that I couldn't apply to TCD out of high school. Considering my cousin went from high school I thought it was allowed but having not seen any other high school student on these forums post about it I became unsure. In any case time will tell. My extra curriculars are as follows:

Considering my cousin went from high school I thought it was allowed but having not seen any other high school student on these forums post about it I became unsure. In any case time will tell. My extra curriculars are as follows:

- Volunteering at a hospital since summer 2012
- Worked with our family doctor in India
- Worked at a junior school for underprivileged children in India
- I do rowing
- Worked a soup kitchen since age 12
- I started and am running my school's first ever medical club
- Volunteered at a doctor's clinic

I did go into more detail about each in my actual application but this summarises everything. So based on my marks and these extra curriculars do you think I have a good shot at UCD and/or TCD?

I just read up on it and i do think TCD will accept your application. When i applied i only considered the 6 year programs because i didn't do IB (i did have SAT II tests done but only did Bio M and World History). Either way never knew TCD would accept me.

To be honest, i can't say for sure. Last year i applied to UCD and NUIG only and i was accepted into NUIG and waitlisted at UCD. I ended up withdrawing from UCD at the end of May.

I'm glad you found my stats useful, but don't want to keep em up too long 🙂
