So, I am considering contacting an admissions counselor for the school I'm interested in. I tried searching through previous threads, and didn't see anything related to what I'm asking.

What questions are considered appropriate to ask an admissions counselor? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Much appreciated!

I usually ask about their average GPA and how to better my chances of getting accepted. Also I ask what they look for in there candidates. Hope this helps

Make sure not to ask anything on the website. You could really ask them a lot of things so your questions is pretty broad.

What ARE you asking, and maybe we can help?

Thanks for your replies. I guess my original post was a bit vague. I would like to ask a lot of questions, but then I want to have something left to talk about in an interview...

1. how many applications have you received so far?
2. what are my chances of securing an interview (is there a better way to say this?)
3. what qualities do you look for in a successful applicant?

any others???

The first one I think is a little inappropriate-I would be suprised if they even knew for sure. The second one is iffy. I bet they get that question a lot and it gets really annoying. It might show you don't have the confidence in yourself to get the interview. The third one is good, but I have seen that answered on a lot of school websites so make sure it isn't there before asking. Any other opinions on these?

Most likely just get the answers you would expect to get with those questions.

Q:How many apps?
A:We do not know at this time....Probably more than last year

Q:Chances of interview
A: We really can not say until we look at this year's pool of applicants more thoroughly...Look at your stats compared to average stats and your experience.

Q:What do you look for?
A: Most likely says on their website, all the thing they require on a application are what they look for in a student.... Lifelong learner and all that.
