As someone who is considering pharmacy as a career I've always wanted to ask these questions to a large group of people. So here it goes...

What area of pharmacy do you work in?

What are some of your major responsibilities?

How many hrs do you normally work per week?

Approximate salary?

Are you happy in your current position?

What do you love about it? What do you hate?

Pharmacy is a great profession, with tons of opportunities in many practice settings. The salary is really good, 80,000+ in most settings except if you choose to do a residency or go into academic setting. The time you work can vary depending on the setting. But can include anywhere from shift work and weekends or straight 9-5 job with weekends off. The downside to pharmacy is that job can get repetitive and monotonous. Also most of the pharmacists time is dedicated in checking scripts and getting drugs out to pts. Much less time is spent counselling pts on drugs, SE and so forth. That can be disenharting after you were thaught in school disease states and had all this schooling. Retail pharmacists particularly have tasks, like ringing up the cash register, maybe packing a bag of milk and so forth. Another downside is the lack of autonomy. As a pharmacist you must call the MD for any type of drug clarification. You need to figure out what is most imp to you. Best of luck.
