just out of curiousity, what are some procedures medical school students are expected to perform while in medical school? like bone marrow biopsy, spinal taps, knee taps, anything basically like that. If any, are those during are third and forth years?

Our school had us sign off on 7-8 procedures. Can't remember exactly, but yeah something like what you have there (maybe substitute bone marrow biopsy for venipuncture or simple sutures). Really not hard to accomplish during the first half of 3rd year.

It kind of depends on the attendings/residents you work with on your rotations, but you can definitely plan on doing plenty of sutures on actual patients. We do central lines and intubations and stuff on manaquins, but I doubt it's a guarantee we'd get to do those on the wards.

hey thanks for responding you guys, so were you guys nervous at all to these procedures? I had a student or resident (idk which) attempt to do a knee tap on me a few months ago.. holly crap did he look scared perhaps it was my fault because i kept squirming but it didn't feel good i couldn't help it lol...
