hi

im going to ccp this coming fall, and i have a few questions...

1) do you really need a car in downer's grove? if not, is the public transportation suitable for your needs? and how do you get around?

2) im a californian who hasnt experienced a 'real' winter in a long time. just how bad is the cold weather in illinois?

im sure i'll have more questions later on, but im a little tired right now...

thanks for any info for clueless me.

1. Yes, there really isn't much public transportantion around. The school is set off in a residential area.
2. It can get pretty damn cold

Hi!
1) Yes, you need a car! If you want to go grocery shopping or such, you will need a car. There isn't really much to do on campus so it may be boring. There's no shuttle buses or anything provided by the school.

2) It gets very cold here (below zero during the winter at times!) Bring a coat, blankets, sweaters, etc. The dorms have heat, but even so, some people say they're still cold sometimes.

darn i was hoping i wouldnt need a car...
thanks for answering!

Oh, you don't have a car already? If you don't, it's okay. I meant that if you need transportation out of the campus, you should get a car. The most important reason is not just for groceries, recreation, etc. but for your rotations. You have to travel to your rotation site and back to campus (if you dorm). If you can't get a car, then you can certainly carpool with the other students going to the same site. You'll figure it out, don't worry 🙂! You can get by without a car, but it can be difficult.
