Hello all,

I'm taking the MCAT in April and am planning on applying to medical school this year for admission to the class of 2007. I am in the third year of my Ph.D. program in Chemistry, and I intend to finish this before going on to med school. I was wondering what experiences other graduate students had in the application process:

1) Specifically, how did your adviser react? I hear many are not supportive. I have yet to tell mine about my post-Ph.D. plans and am dreading it. Did your advisers write good recommendations?

2) In terms of publications , how did they look at this for the medical school application process. Do you feel it helped you a lot? My undergrad GPA isn't stellar but I have a good number of publications.

Thanks!!

Hey heparin,

I would also try posting this in the MD/PhD forum. There may be a few individuals in there you may also have similar experiences.

Best of luck to you.
