1) Is there a phone number for AMCAS where can call to ask q's?

2) I took a class called Human Growth and Dev.- it was thru the anthro dept at my school, but my school counts it as BCMP b/c it is over 50% biology. How do I classify it? For anthro classes it says Behavioral/Social sciences, but thats not a BCMP. So, can I put it under BIOLOGY? (or will that confuse amcas checkers, b/c on my transcript it says its an anthro class?)

thanks so much.

Don't quote me on this, but I think they go by what department the course was offered from. So in your case, it would be anthro.

I had some credits for teaching, but the course was offered through Biology department and I put it as Bio and it went through as Bio.

This is actually discussed on page 1, 2, or 3 of the current 2005 official amcas help thread. Do a search. I posted an email that I received from amcas that may be helpful to you.

Cheers.

Will this class help or hurt your BCMP GPA? If it helps your BCMP GPA, then you could take a chance and classify it as biology, but this could slow the processing of your application if the reviewer does not agree with your classification.

I classified 2 biostatistics courses as math, and two epi courses as bio (cancer epi, epi infectious disease). Neither was changed. I submitted June 3rd, and was verified June 14.
