During one summer, I volunteered as a receptionist at a Free Clinic for a few hours a week. My duties included answering phones, checking in patients, referring patients to specialty clinics, and stocking supplies for the showers that were provided for the homeless.
Now my question is, my volunteer experiences are all medical/clinical, and there are not too many that are not. Would it be ok to list the receptionist position as non-medical since I did not see any medical procedures, or is this clearly a medical experience? Thanks for your input. (Just trying to diversify the list of experiences a bit 🙂)

It depends on what you emphasize. If you say "receptionist," then sure, classify it as non-medical. If you say "volunteer with free clinic" then it's medical.

But even AMCAS admits that the categories are arbitrary, so I wouldn't stress about it.

Haha, I think you can go either way as the construct of the categories is a bit flexible. I love the "all my experiences are clinical," congrats. I think that in general it really wont hurt you. Good luck with the application!
