Trying to resolve a $100 bet and I really need your help. Does anyone remember the buckyball passage? One of the questions asked about valence electrons, and possible answers were like 50, 100, 200, etc.

Here's the question: was the buckyball passage in PS or BS? We realize that a buckyball is an organic molecule and should therefore be in BS, but nonetheless please only respond if you remember this passage and are sure. Thanks very much.

Does 99.9% sure count?

It was in PS. I remember thinking it was out of place as well.

(.1% of me says April was a LONG time ago... )

The buckyball passage was definitely in the PS section. I remember it vividly, because I remember thinking it was strange seeing an organic molecule in the PS section. I think all the questions dealt with valence electrons, oxidation numbers, etc. so I guess its placement wasn't completely illogical.

i remember it in PS also because it was in the beginning of the test day. and also i think that they would ask about valence e- in PS and not bio section.

damn someone lost a nice chunk of change today...

Do you guys specifically remember a question on 200 valence electrons? I'm trying to seal the deal.

I think one question was total number of valence electrons in C50 (4x50=200) or C60 (4x60=240), and another was formal charge on each carbon (0).

No one remembers the buckyball in biological sciences??? I'm gonna lose a hundred bucks here!

PS for sure, because it was such familiar material and I was so grateful for it.

It was PSfor sure...if you are unsure you can do a search on the MCAT board and you will see that a few people posted about it.

My vote is now 100%. Sorry.
