Is there any way to postpone the test? I called the national prometric but the automated rescheduling thing says I can't if its less than 4 days but there has to be an exception for people who are sick and stuff right? I thought all I had to do was pay a small fee.

Hope everything worked out. I have exceedingly poor sleep hygiene that I was unable to correct prior to my Step I; I consequently pulled an all-nighter for it lmao. Don't know how much better I would've done had I gotten some sleep, but my score wasn't significantly different from my practice exams.

Yep, as long as you don't log into the computer nothing will show on your record. After that it's a matter of finding an open seat at a testing center and maybe paying some more money.

Dang aashkab what ended up happening? I thought you could just go to the website online and try to change it and then pay 100 bucks or something like that if it's w/in 5 days, gl, I hope everything turned out alright!

yo guys. LMAO

sorry for my freak out. i don't even my remember making this thread this morning was how fried my brain was.

i even got a freaking massage the day before and went for a run and was exhausted but i ended up falling asleep at 9 and waking up at 11 PM and staying up all night, lol.

but yeah, i bit the bullet and took it after calling up national prometric, asking the lady at the test site, making this thread...and all in all,

it went GREAT! it sucked, and i had a little trouble doing math but i was able to get them most. i took the whole test in instinct mode. uworld does such a good job of making the third order second nature that you just recognize it on the test. i was able to focus in each question so it ended up okay. i was SCREWED UP THOUGH, in the test, like no joke but throughout the year, i've taken my tests with little to no sleep in "instinct" mode and have managed to crush a few, and i felt good about this

anyways, sorry about my freak out, and haha yeah psychoforme, i'm down for that if it happens but i have no regrets cause SDN prepared me well.

i'll be posting about my experience in the official thread after i am able to rest and recall what happened.

the good thing is, i can't remember much because i was so in the moment and then at the same time, my brain is so fried that i can't remember anything lol

thanks again yall

I took it in May myself and thought I bombed it. Why? Mainly because I walked out with little recollection of any of the questions I had just read. I was a little slow on each section when compared to practice tests, but I think I was just using extra time to be sure. I didn't sleep at all the night before or more than 4 hours each night for a week prior... nerves. Ugh.

score = 252/99

I think autopilot kicked in for me too with all the studying and practice. Good luck on that score. Sounds like you did really well!

guys thanks for the reassurance. and for those future test takers out there, perhaps the younger brothers and sisters, for YOUR SAKE, i DID click on the end survey to split the NBME step 1 into two half days instead of one full day.

hopefully this gives you the option of scheduling at 1 PM at more test sites rather than at 8 AM.

there are several sleep threads out there and i kind of tried a lot of stuff - chamomile tea, nyquil, benadryl, and even a massage the night before. it didn't work (i didn't try all the night before but i did take nyquil and get the massage). i really recommend going and seeing your FP first priority before you start your study session and get it sorted out. i seriously rank it as high as getting a copy of first aid now lol. i scheduled an appointment with FP to get something to take care of it but it was cutting it close to my test and was cramming so ended up cancelling the appointment.

anyways - just my two cents.

ddr - i'd be thrilled with anything around your score bro! congrats, that is SPECTACULAR. i'm just hoping i do well and then i can be all like "AND I Didn't sleep the night before. har har har" haha j/k

This happened to me before my exam. I went out for a run, ate a huge meal, watched a boring movie, and got into bed at 930pm. Also, I had barely slept the two previous nights, so I was hoping to pass out right quick. WRONG. I was twisting and turning the entire night. Then at 5AM I said **** it, and got up and went through some of my notes. I was very very close to canceling but bit the bullet and took the test. During my breaks I was chugging redbull and espresso. I was high as a kite, although I too struggled with some of the math and felt "off" during the test to some degree. It turned out alright. 235/99 which is around what I got for my NBME's. So overall I'm happy, although breaking 240 would have been nice.

shoulda tried propofol imo

I only got 3 hours of sleep the night before my exam as well. i was in bed for 8 hours and for 5 hours i was like this ->>:scared: i heard lunesta is pretty good (i think that's eszopiclone? one of the non benzo benzos) so if you think this might be a problem for you hit up your GP
