I am only applying to schools with later deadlines this year and I am still getting my app materials together. I am printing envelopes for my letter writers and I just wondered what was appropriate for the return address? Should it be my address or the professors' who are writing for me or just my undergrad school address? Most of these are going to be mailed in a packet with other materials, but at least one is mailed directly to the school. Thanks for your help! I searched the threads and could not find this particular topic anywhere.

I wasn't quite sure of this either, but I think I ended up deciding to put down my recommenders' addresses. It might look weird to put your own on there, so at least this way if it gets sent back for any reason, the professor responsible for the rec will know. I definitely wouldn't put down a general undergrad address, because then if anything happens to it, you'll have no way to find out.

I don't know if it's typical, but I put my address as the return address. Since I knew I had the correct address and the chances of the letter being returned to me were slim, I figured it'd be more helpful for my letter writer than anything else. I can't imagine schools being suspicious about this. In the event that it were returned to me, I would have just mailed it to the school anyway
