Just a wondering about the language in a microbiology case study I've got. Would you consider 'mechanical intervention' in a case of pneumococcal otitis media to mean tympanostomy tubes? Or is it referring more along the lines of surgical intervention (tonsilectomy)? Thanks!

Well tubes are surgical as well aren't they? Granted, to a different extent than a tonsillectomy. So my thought is it could refer to either one of those.
