I am a sophomore in high school and I got kind of screwed over so now I am taking geometry.

1. non relevant question -will this effect my chance of getting into a good college?

2. relevant question- at the rate I am going I will take pre-calculus my senior year, is calculus in college ok and how do medschools feel about this?

This is way early to care, but I'll answer anyway. Also, I only have experience at my university, however I'm pretty sure you could generalize to ____ university; the rules are all similar.

The college would require you to take Calc I and II. To skip out of this you would need a 5 on the AP test (BC, not AB). Since not so many people actually take the AP exam, or get a 5, it is the norm for a freshman to take Calc I and II the first year.

Enjoy life - don't stress about the future too much 👍

Whoaaaah, slow down kid-o. First thing you need to worry about is getting into a good undergraduate institution, with a good record for sending people to grad school. You will be fine not taking calculus until college; there are plenty of people who do. Theres less than half a dozen med schools which require Calculus to be taken at all, and all schools require you to take at least one math class in college. If anything, it may be helpful, because you'll be taking your med school "math requirement" and fulfilling requirement for say, your bio major, by taking calculus. Like I said, relax and focus on undergrad, and maybe even lay off sdn for a while. It will make you paranoid.

You'll be fine, just get into a decent undergrad, it will help you some, but if that's not possible you will still be fine.

People like you make me feel old.

Just because Doogie Howser did it...doesn't mean you have to!!

Actually, you probably don't remember Doogie Howser...

You will be ok. Just slow down a bit. You may change your mind about being a doc. Maybe not.

But enjoy being 15 (i know sometimes it can be hard to do however). Things get easier as you get older.

The above post about calculus is a good one. It isn't required at many schools, only advised.

:luck: Good luck!!

Wow, sophomore year in high school I was running around with my friends having a good time. Post-undergrad was the furthest thing from my mind. Ive managed to do pretty well, I reccommend relaxing a bit.

I only imagine it would hurt if it's representative of a larger trend happening in every subject. Colleges are familiar with each school's course offerings, so as long as you're taking advantage of other high-level/advanced classes your school has to offer you'll be competative for a good college.

My senior year of high school I had to choose between continuing with chorus (counted as a class, and I had been singing since middle school) and AP Spanish. I picked chorus and was accepted at several ivies, and I don't think it came up at any interviews. You'll be fine. 🙂

I appreciate the support!

What are you worrying about? I took pre-calculus my senior year of college. That's the standard thing for high school students. I placed into calc I my freshman year and took it. Then I took calculus II. I went way beyond my math requirement. You don't even need calculus.

Are you kidding? 15 sucks!

Seriously though, things get better. Stick it out.
