Funny story. In UG I accidentally took the nursing version of Anatomy and Physiology (That'll teach me to read the course descriptions!). I took Bio and Chem for majors, I was flagged as having the appropriate pre-reqs for the class.
Eventually, I also took Anatomy and Physiology (2 different bio, for majors classes).

Just to make sure. The original AP counts toward my overall GPA, but not in my science GPA. Also it wouldn't be replaced by either of the two A or P class (my grades were higher). However, the A and P for majors classes would count toward my science GPA.

amiright?

I think that is a very hard question to answer without knowing how they labeled the courses on your transcripts. From what I understand is if the courses have the same course code (ex. ANAT1500), then it would consider them repeats. But, since your saying that one was for nursing majors, and the other Anatomy & Physiology courses you took were seperate, they probably dont have the same numbering. So, my guess would be that they would all be counted towards your science GPA. I do know from experience that Anatomy & Physiology for nursing majors will still count towards science GPA.

I was told in the past that the course didn't need to have the same course code to count it as a retake, although I am not sure on that. I was told that a course could have different credit hours (i am assuming slightly different titles) and still be able to replace the course. Your undergraduate institution may not see it this way, but the osteopathic application may allow a replacement. The reason I know that courses can have different course numbers and can be replaced is that I have heard of people that claimed to have taken similar courses at other universities and have them count as replacements. Once I asked several pre-medical and current medical students if I could replace a 2 credit hour bio I with a later taken biology course. At this particular university they had bio 121 (2 cr.), 131 (3 cr.), and 231 (3 cr.) count as equivalents to bio 110 (4 cr.) and 111 (4 cr.) (bio I and II) and somebody said I could use bio 110 as the latest grade used if I wanted for bio 121. Well I would suspect that if the course has the same title ie NURS Anatomy and Physiology, and BIO Anatomy and Physiology, then I would think you have a good chance of having it count because the course content is the same. If it says "for nursing" in the title it may be more difficult to have it slide. Osteopathic does count nursing as science, so I think you have a good chance at having it count, just ask an admin.

I might have misunderstood your question, but I think that you have a good shot at trying to replace the grades with either of those A and P course because they are both considered science for osteopathic admissions standards.

I think Boilermaker is correct...And I take back what I said above. I was doing some reading and saw someone else claim that they were able to count a course with a differnt title and number code as a retake of another similar course.

If you take a class at a different university, they will not have the same numbers. Yet, I can remember quite a few people on here saying that they were able to take the same class at another university to replace the grade.

As far as I know, the criteria for deciding if two classes are equivalent is that the name of the classes should be somewhat similar, and most importantly, the CONTENT of the classes should be the same.
