Quick question about "In the area" emails

i am confident that as long as the title isn't "i hate black people and i eat babies for dinner" it won't matter in the slightest.

"In the area" should work fine. For me, it worked at some schools and not some others.

When people say in the area email do they mean they already have an interview scheduled and were hoping it could be changed since they will be at a nearby area? Or is it asking for an interview just because you are in the area.

The latter.

Pretty much. It's just a way of saying, "hey, if you have any interest in me at all, could you interview me this specific week so I don't go COMPLETELY broke traveling."

I was traveling from Utah to go to Texas for interviews. The "in the area" email worked for me three times.

It "worked" because you were going to be granted an interview anyway, and the school was polite enough to inform you about the interview in time for your "in the area" visit.

Some people think that an "in the area" email may trigger "an interview". Not the case.
