Sorry if this is supposed to go in one of the AMCAS specific threads, I just didn't really know which one it belonged in. Apologies in advance to the mods.

So I'm not too proud of my grades in my last semester and so I sent in my official transcript to AMCAS before the grades came out. I'm doing this in an effort to hide these mediocre grades from schools but something just occurred to me...

Would I have to disclose these grades on secondaries? From what I remember, most secondaries have that tedious section where you fill in your classes all over again. If these classes aren't in my transcript, then would I be required to report them? The schools will know that I graduated and most secondaries are done in July/August so they'll probably know something's up if my grades from my last semester aren't reported on the secondary. I can't say that I don't know what my grades are because no school releases their end of semester grades that late.

Has anyone ever done something like this? How should I handle the secondary?

I don't think I had to provide grades in any secondary. Have you actually seen secondaries that require that? If you run into this, I would just use the transcript that you submitted unless the app specifically says to include any updates that aren't included in your AMCAS transcript.

However, keep in mind that schools aren't dumb. Not having your last semester/quarter of grades is going to be somewhat suspicious, so it wouldn't surprise me if you were asked about it at some point.

IIRC, the secondaries I filled out asked for my grades in only the prerequisite courses that I had already completed. If you leave a large number of those unfilled, it could be a red flag.

Yeah you're correct - some secondaries do require you to re-enter prerequisite grades.

I think the secondaries that I completed that required this pulled the information from my AMCAs app and I had to verify which courses I was using to satisfy the prerequisites. It was annoying, but not too tedious.

*If you get secondaries like mine* there won't be an option for you to enter grades that weren't submitted on your AMCAs app. For whatever reason the schools just wanted me to confirm the courses.

Hmm, maybe you guys are right and it is just the prereq grades. My memory is failing me right now. I only took philosophy classes this year so hopefully they won't be asking for them!

Yeah, it was just prerequisite grades.

Also, It may look suspicious, but don't a lot of people do this? Especially people from the UC system who do not get their grades back until mid to late June?

Yeah, schools that are known to report grades late obviously won't be an issue. However admissions offices are generally aware of the schools that do this and those that don't (unless you go to a particularly unknown school). Assuming your university has a history of med school applicants, schools will likely have an idea of whether you submitting grades with your app or not is unusual.

Crap lol- My school's grades were relased 5/22, and I sent the transcripts out before then. I also go to a pretty big pre-med school.

I did it to mask spring semester grades (I did Ace all my finals, but resulted in an A-, B+, B-, Pass, 3.2 overall (still higher than the 2.85 1st semester). This preserved .05ish on my gpa.

Also, to make sure I am absolutely as early as possible as I was late last year and had transcript difficulties

I hope this doesn't look super sketchy ugh.
