Accidently assigned the wrong LOR in AMCAS to one school. At the time, I hadn't seen their requirement about 2 science LORs. Should I just add a (4th) letter to AMCAS?

Does anyone have a suggestion what to do?

Thanks

add a 4th letter.

if the school explicitly states they only want 3 letters then email them. otherwise, don't worry about it.

ah, darn, the school says they only want 3 letters. I'll e-mail them then..

Oh no, I hope this doesn't end up looking to bad. I guess, it is what it is.

Edit: Wait, do I say "I accidently assigned the wrong LOR." that sounds so dumb (i know, this is so stupid but I'm about done with this process..)

just email them and tell them which letters you wish for them to evaluate.

You can always phrase it like "I would like to change the letters I have assigned on AMCAS", no need to say "accident"

Ok, right. Does something like this work?

I assigned the incorrect letter of recommendation to the AMCAS and so, in order to fulfill the requirement for science faculty, please ask that you evaluate the letter written by Dr. X in place of that written by Mr. X.

Sincerely,

st.jude

Does that sound too unfriendly?

I would go with something more like:

Dear Whoever,
I hope that this message finds you well. While I understand that the application season is a very busy time for your office, I am wondering if you might be able to honor a small request? In light of the requirement of two letters of recommendation from science faculty, I would like to change the letters of recommendation assigned to my AMCAS application to ensure that the letter written by Dr. X is evaluated, as opposed to the letter written by Mr. Y. Thank you for your time, I greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

st.jude
