Does anyone know where I can find some good RA positions in the New Jersey area? I'm primarily interested in developmental disabilities and behavioral interventions with children.

Thanks!

*MOD NOTE: This is more of a general comment for all reading...when you make threads, please be more specific in the title, I've had to change 5-6 thread titles in the last few days that were way too vauge. -t*

The good news about NJ is there are a ton of places you can look (at least in N. NJ). Have you made your general rounds through the various Rutgers campuses, College of NJ, Fairley Dickenson, William Paterson, etc?

I live in NJ and for the most part its pretty scarce around here unless you are a grad student at one of the schools T4C has mentioned. If you live in North Jersey the best bet would be to look at places in NY. I posted earlier about the New York State Psychiatric Institute which is right off the GW. The full post is listed here:

You could try looking into JFK Hospital in Edison, NJ or any of the hospitals in New Brunswick, NJ like Robert Wood Johnson or St. Peters Hospital or you can try looking at UMDMJ.

Hope that helps...

Hi, I am actually an RA at Rutgers. I don't know about the clinical psych department, but I know there are a number of general opportunities in the psych department at Rutgers (it's a huge research institution). I think it's sort of hard to break in- as they often hire undergraduates who they have already worked with, or hire people from other labs- but it's definitely possible. I actually found an RA listing on their employment website.

I would say, if you are interested in working at Rutgers, start by looking into labs who do work that interests you, and start emailing about whether they might have any openings. It's worth a shot, best of luck!
