listen-i saw the weirdest show ever on the discovery channel the other night. OK--there are worm farms. They feed the worms shredded paper and stale bread. Then--they harvest the worm poop and sell it to farmers who put it all over their fields. But you know some farmers have really big fields. so they take the worm poop and dilute it with water and other stuff to make liquid worm poop fertilizer that can be sprayed over large areas. they even showed 2 worms having sex which is something i really never wanted to see.

lol!! i have to keep stuff clean--i blame my mom--those amish women are clean freaks. I love those lysol wipes and pine-sol from a bottle

eww, worm sex! no good no good at all!

my friend did this weird science project in middle school where she cut worms in half and exposed them to benzene and saw what happened to the other end (grew a new head, grew a new tail, or died). it was kind of sick, and i don't like worms after that.

but i thought the worm eating composte was actually a little cute and funny. saw it on the bbc.

I've already seen it multiple times. 🙄 It was funny the first time, kind of passe the second time, and downright annoying by now. At this point I'd fail the kid just out of spite. :meanie:

q, are you thinking of going into academic medicine or clinical medicine? i know you like toxicology but hate the EM side of the residency. *shakes head in disbelief why someone wouldnt like inserting chest tubes and treating trauma*

i gotta get out of here and finish my pharmacology for the day or else the only emergencies i'll ever treat will be "doc, my pig she ain't a breathing well could yee take a listen?" :scared:

I'm definitely going to go into research. I'm not sure whether I'll ultimately end up in academia or industry though. A lot of these things depend on who you meet as you go along and also what ends up really turning you on. I definitely could not have predicted where I'd end up today, so I'm trying to stay as open-minded as possible. Most MD/PhDs don't end up in industry, but we definitely can go into industry. Interestingly, the big drug companies want people like me to help run clinical trials. There aren't very many people who have PhDs in chemistry and an MD too. If I did that, I'd probably get an MBA too and ultimately end up in administration. When I become a big-time veep for research at Pfizer or something, I'll treat you all to a fun-filled free week at one of my tropical island estates. 👍

ok, dude, seriously i have like 10% of your motivation. 😱

you already have a phd, you're going to soon have an MD and then on top of that you're going to get an MBA. WOW. i barely have enough drive left to get me through 2 more years of med school. :laugh:
