I am in love with Patrick Stewart and Tom Hanks. 😍 😍 😍
have you seen tom hanks new hair? it just looks so weird on him. 👎

the following post is a public service announcement to you and all future medical students:

Q, i know you 😍 kaplan but let me tell you that their USMLE stuff is CRAP. with the exception of biochem and possibly behavioral science, i hate their review books. i actually really liked their mcat materials a few years ago but as far as the usmle goes.... 👎 👎

there's just soooooo many better books out there for step 1, like BRS path, BRS phys, Micro made rediculously simple, HY gross, etc... that its better to just put together the best of the best into your own little package. today was the first of 4 days i had planned out for pharm. the plan was to read kaplan's usmle pharm book over the next few days. i read 60 pages of it and it was the worst thing i've read since i started studying. i came online now to do a search to make sure i'd be safe with just knowing first aid pharm cold and then supplementing that with BRS pharm flashcards and lippincott's pharm to fill in any explanations. looks like the pharm section is the best part of first aid, most people dont do anything besides that so i should be money. 👍 i'm just pissed i wasted a day on the freaking kaplan book. just buy access to qbank when you're a 2nd year, buying the books, even off someone for $150 used which is what i did is a waste of money. i cant believe they charge $500 just for these review books on their website. at least i didnt lose that much.

END RANT

OH you guys, I am so sick this evening. Either I've got a tummy bug or I ate something bad...

🙁

if you have diarrhea just dont take imodium AD, its contraindicated in infectious diarrhea. it wont help and can actually make things worst. try kaopectate and take lots of fluids. i hope you feel better.

i have some step 1 books--but they are from 2004 though. yeah--i bought them at the library for 10 cents a piece. i look at them sometimes. i have first aid, BRS path, some weird board simulator series books, and a princeton review book. i did have a really good one but one of my med school friends kidnapped it.

I'll keep that in mind. I haven't made it to the pharm section yet. Out of curiousity, what was so bad about it? I'm reading through bacteriology at the moment, and yeah, it's hella dry. 👎 Ok, so tell me the "best of the best package" so that I don't have to go through all this s*** in two years. Keep in mind that in my case, I get the Kaplan stuff for free as an employee, so financially, Kaplan is definitely the best deal for me. 😉

after i finish with the boards i'll post a recap over in usmle to let everyone know what worked and what didnt. kind of like what we do here in our 30+ thread.

the pharm was just dry and didnt flow. i dont know, it just didnt work for me. compare it to lippincotts and you'll see that kaplan pharm sucks at explaining and at putting stuff together for you. even if they gave it to me for free i wouldnt use it. kaplan qbank and qbook on the other hand, those 2 rawk.

oh, and the fact that you are reading through bacteriology as an MS0... well... i'm not even gonna go there. 😱

hi guys! just checking in for the evening...i'm off to pittsburgh tomorrow to see my family and go to my friend's wedding reception

Ok, I'll catch your list when you post it.

(shrug) It's review for me. Don't forget, I took most of these classes already as a first-year grad student. But it was ten years ago, so not only did I forget a lot, but I also of course am not up with new developments in the fields. So far I've done biochem, cell bio, molecular bio, and most of psych. I haven't actually had psychopath before, but it's more categories for various diseases than it is concepts. Obviously going to be a lot of memorization. I'm getting ready to start immunology after micro; that's going to be a toughie. I know I've forgotten a lot there too. The classes that are new are anatomy, physiology, histology and path. So I'm not sure i'll bother reading those for now....

i KNEW it. you're out to get me. :scared:

It's ok. When I vomit or have issues with the other end, I usually don't take medication to stop it. I figure my body is trying to expel something for a reason and there's only so much that can come out.

If there's pain afterwards, then I take tylenol or something.

Feeling better today with minor tummyache. No biggie.

There's lots of rest areas along I-55 when I'll be traveling today!

So, I'm off to shower and go to work, then I'll be leaving for Southern Illinois after work. Won't be back until Sunday night.

Y'all behave now, hear!
