There are tornadic supercells one county over heading straight for us.

I really used to love severe weather until the IC tornado. Now it makes me jumpy. I saw in the paper that they're still not done with the cleanup from that (not even talking about rebuilding).
Tornado's in MICHIGAN?!!!??!?!?

Yep! They look quite impressive actually. Check out the radar online!

They don't happen here very often, that's for sure. I am amused because the local news channels don't even have up a weather graphic, much less doing continuous coverage like they do in tornado alley when this happens.

It's weird too because it has been thunderstorming all day and is sort of cool and overcast. Not what I would typically think of as a tornadic situation.

The thought of a tornado scares the crap out of me.

I like where I live - no hurricanes, no tornadoes (do you make that plural the same as tomato? LOL), very little chance of earthquakes .... I think I'll stay here.

what if all the great lakes flooded, michiganwouldn't exsist anymore 🙁

That seems rather unlikely.

Did you know that Michigan has the 2nd largest amount of coastline of any state? (Alaska is #1). I had no idea.

Eat that, Floridians. 😛

I dissected a shark ear. I dissected many a shark ear. I think that might be as close to the ear as I will ever get.

I didn't even know that sharks HAD ears! 😳

My husband tried to cancel his AOL right after we got hi-speed and the rep did the same thing to him....

the rep's biggest mistake (other than keeping my husband on the phone) was telling my husband "you don't understand" when my husband said to cancel the service. The guy finally relented and did it when my husband asked for a supervisor because the guy was being so pushy.

My brother also had this happen to him. NO wonder AOL is going down the toilet!

Those Mini MCAT tests are demoralizing. Some of the verbal explanations say may or may not 3 times. Bunch of BS.

yea stay away from them, how is the examcrackers stuff other than that?, i never used it

I just went to their website and got the question of the day wrong

As if the entire verbal section isn't a bunch of BS....

I've tried to look in my kids' ears when I thought they were infected and all I ever saw was darkness (even with the silly light). I even tried on my husband and he made me stop because he said I was hurting him. Great ....

I'm a little worried that I will never see an eardrum all through med school too.
This might make you feel better. My dad was checking me for papalidema the other day (I think I spelled that wrong) and he revealed that he could never see into the eye until he was in residency. And he's an opthamologist!!

I can totally believe it - eyes are a million times harder than ears!

(Obviously I've never seen in an eye either).

Once I did my path applications I stopped worrying so much about these clinical skills. 😀

Okay, here's a kind of stupid question that I bet you'll be able to answer VD. 😉

I know an opthamologist is an MD and an optometrist is something else. Do they do the same things or do opthamologists do more? Who do you go see for what? 😉

Optometrists I think are more like your eye PCP. Optho's are specialists.

The only "medical" things an optometrist can treat is like basic pink eye. Everything else, cataracts, glaucoma, etc, goes to an opthamologist. Opthamologists can also do surgery; Optometrists can't. My dad does almost entirely refractions now. But the situation is different in TX because no optometrist can practice inside an optical (bizarre, I know).

just got home from class and eating "hot" tacos. I'm tired and need to read. And bored. And lots of other stuff. Thanks again for the advice beary about imageJ. I should read up on that tonight but I have other reading to get done.

A........you have just been pimped!! You're not a gunner...i'm so relieved 😉 I'm SO glad you are feeling better about everything today......how awesome is it that you get to leave at 11? That attending is gonna be so amazed when everyone draws beautiful eardrums.

Ahhh, I see - so optometrists are pretty much just for glasses or contacts?

Quiet here tonight. What are all y'all up to?

I'm going to go to bed soon.

*in my best valley girl voice*

Like, oh my God, I like went to the mall, and like went shopping. 😉

Sorry, I couldn't resist, hehehehehe. I went to Macy's to get a gift card for my friend's wedding this weekend. She was my best friend in high school and I just recently got back in touch with her and found out she is getting married. So I'm taking a trip with the girls to my mom and dad's this weekend and will be going to her wedding with my older sister (while I leave the babies with either grandma and grandpa or their uncle).

I need to start packing and loading up the car - we're leaving tomorrow morning. My sister is pregnant and I'm bringing all of my baby gear (carseats, high chair, bouncy seat, *ton* of clothes) to give to her. I think that makes me officially done having kids - it's not even making me the slighest bit sad to give all that stuff away. :meanie:

Interesting...Do you remember what topic it was on?

It is STILL storming. It has basically been thunderstorming continuously for 24 hours. I am going to go sit on my porch and watch the lightning for a bit and then hit the sack.

Ok, am I the only one who has had enough of Regis Philbin? Ugh. Now there is this show on called "America's Got Talent"....um, maybe, but he (Regis is the host) has NONE!

I just realize I ate 1/2 a pack of gum this evening. Yes, ate 😳 What *is* wrong with me? Diagnosis anyone?
