by then you'll be a HO-3! be nice to those poor interns, they are clueless. 😛 😉

The HO-3s seem like they know everything. I can't imagine ever being there.

This is so bad but at some time in the future I just want things to be easier. M1/M2 was hard. Beginning of grad school was hard. End of grad school was hard. M3/M4 was hard. Now this is really hard too.

My fad of the day is to do an informatics fellowship and play with computers for the rest of my life. That is way more applied than anything I had imagined doing. We'll see. We pretty much need to know what fellowship we are going to do by the middle of our HO-2 year. 😱

beary you are going to be awesome. to me and everyone else behind you, you already know everything. next thing you know you'll be an omniscient attending.

I think it has helped me to see my classmates from M1 and M2 as senior residents (attendings this year!) We all "knew nothing" together, and then when I reappeared from grad school they seemed so smart to me.

How is the M3 adjustment going for you A-man? Seems like things have been better since that first day.

The good: I am an accomplished cook.

The bad: I gained far too much weight when I quit smoking and as such have put myself on a strict diet. I am craving sugar like you would not believe.

The very good: I restrained myself from going to Coldstone Creamery with my friends earlier today. I have not purchased sweets in a long, long time.

The ugly: This evening I, in a state I can only call a frenzy, made chocolate pudding from scratch. I simply could not help myself. It had to be done. Seriously, it was very strange.

The excellent: I am a kick-ass cook. Damn, this pudding is good. 🙂 🙂 🙂

That's great that you have not purchased sweets! I am very impressed with your willpower. I totally know what you mean about HAVING to eat sweets. I will totally quit sweets sometimes and throw out everything sweet in my house and then go out and buy some like it's a huge emergency.

oh beary, that first day was just so crazy. i wish i could have had a tv camera with me so you could see. nuts.

i'm much happier working with residents and attendings whose only job is to treat patients. the ones who specialize in "teaching" know their stuff but are masters in knowing how to make us feel stupid at times.

molly--that is so awesome that you quit smoking--rock on! I swear--that pudding from a box is like heaven......I completely understand

A-man: I have a 13 pack-year hx. I completely understand the inability to stop with the H&P questions. 🙂

Thanks for the congrats, guys! 😍 I actually quit 6 months ago, but I gave myself time to adjust (my biggest stumbling block to quitting in the past had been weight gain -- I'd freak out and start smoking again). Sadly, in the intervening time my dad has started smoking again after over 20 years of abstinence. 🙁 If it were legal to kill his girlfriend, I'd be mightily tempted. 😡

But my mom was finally able to quit in January after her thyroidectomy, so that's good! 🙂

(It sucks coming from a whole family of smokers... 🙁)

GORGEOUS! don't worry about some extra weight--you are adding years to your life by quitting smoking. 6 months is a long time--you are really doing great. My grandparents stopped smoking together (I know they took some kind of prescription meds that really helped?) anyways--i couldn't be happier

Hi everyone! I'm leaving first thing in the morning, so I won't be around much for a few days. Molly, I'm so mad that we won't be roommates. Your post is making me hungry. But I need to get some sleep now. Nighty night, randomites. 🙂

Night-night, Q! I wish that we could have been roommates, too. Would have saved me some cash, if nothing else. 🙂

But I will make you chocolate pudding when you come to APSA and/or SDN if you want. 🙂

Good luck on the movealiciousness!

Nice lingo Molly...I was poised to win too. 😡

I've been known to play once in a while. Phil Hellmuth got his start at my school, you know. 🙂

 I'm pretty bad at it and don't have the drive to get better but I do know a bit o' the lingo.

I think its an omen. I had finished 3rd last week, 2nd on tues.,and then 6th tonight on a bad beat. It's time to hang up the shades and hit the mcat books harder.

Agree. Plenty of time for play when the MCAT is done. 🙂
