3rd time is a charm! 🙂 Welcome to the best thread on SDN: The Random Non-MCAT thread--PART 3!

This is a place to chill and talk about anything besides the MCAT. 😎

I would have had 2 weeks off had I stuck with the class. I'm happier every day that I dropped it. For example, tonight I would have been studying for an exam tomorrow. Instead, I'm watching Law and Order:CI and working my way through a bottle of Pinot Gris. 😀

Aww I missed you guys too (my boyfriend is getting dinner and a movie so I can sneak a few minutes on SDN :meanie: )

Fe (Guess that's a new nickname 😀 ): He's not an SDNer. He's a chem major though really supportive of the whole premed thing

Hey have any of you read the Elric series by Michael Moorcock? I'm having a horrible time finding the first volume and finally had to order it off of half.com

Frederic Arthur (Fred) Clark, who had tired of reading obituaries noting other's courageous battles with this or that disease, wanted it known that he lost his battle as a result of an automobile accident on June 18, 2006. True to Fred's personal style, his final hours were spent joking with medical personnel while he whimpered, cussed, begged for narcotics and bargained with God to look over his wife and kids. He loved his family. His heart beat faster when his wife of 37 years Alice Rennie Clark entered the room and saddened a little when she left. His legacy was the good works performed by his sons, Frederic Arthur Clark III and Andrew Douglas Clark MD, PhD., along with Andy's wife, Sara Morgan Clark. Fred's back straightened and chest puffed out when he heard the Star Spangled Banner and his eyes teared when he heard Amazing Grace. He wouldn't abide self important tight *censored*. Always an interested observer of politics, particularly what the process does to its participants, he was amused by politician's outrage when we lie to them and amazed at what the voters would tolerate. His final wishes were "throw the bums out and don't elect lawyers" (though it seems to make little difference). During his life he excelled at mediocrity. He loved to hear and tell jokes, especially short ones due to his limited attention span. He had a life long love affair with bacon, butter, cigars and bourbon. You always knew what Fred was thinking much to the dismay of his friend and family. His sons said of Fred, "he was often wrong, but never in doubt". When his family was asked what they remembered about Fred, they fondly recalled how Fred never peed in the shower - on purpose. He died at MCV Hospital and sadly was deprived of his final wish which was to be run over by a beer truck on the way to the liquor store to buy booze for a double date to include his wife, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter to crash an ACLU cocktail party. In lieu of flowers, Fred asks that you make a sizable purchase at your local ABC store or Virginia winery (please, nothing French - the *censored*) and get rip roaring drunk at home with someone you love or hope to make love to. Word of caution though, don't go out in public to drink because of the alcohol related laws our elected officials have passed due to their inexplicable terror at the sight of a MADD lobbyist and overwhelming compulsion to meddle in our lives. No funeral or service is planned. However, a party will be held to celebrate Fred's life. It will be held in Midlothian, Va. Email [email protected] for more information. Fred's ashes will be fired from his favorite cannon at a private party on the Great Wicomico River where he had a home for 25 years. Additionally, all of Fred's friend (sic) will be asked to gather in a phone booth, to be designated in the future, to have a drink and wonder, "Fred who?"

morning all! 😛

i'm back from my weekend of being a tourist in boston. yay for visiting friends! and my parents are going to be here today as well!

Hi all. I have not posted much in here lately b/c it takes longer to actually post it than to type the darn thing out. Anyone else having that problem? I mean, there is slow and then there is SDN.

Hope everyone is doing well. It is hot here...as it is everywhere. For those of you who have started school..I hope you are enjoying the heck out of it. For those who are starting next month, I hope you are enjoying your last moments of freedom! 😛

Have a great day! 😍

Ugh. I'm sick still today. Yucky green stuff coming out of my nose and a small fever. Unfortunately I still have to work and go to class. I'm leaving after my quiz though so I can have a few hours of rest before I go to work.

Their science sections I notice tend to be harder, but they tend to really drill the concepts into your head. i think their verbal is poorly designed. i was going to do the extra verbal topicals by them but I'm not going to cuz it is nothing like Ek and AAMCs which are more representative.

The yucky green stuff is called flegm or mucus with trapped bacteria or virus infected cells.

Ok seriously though, as gross as this is going to sound, when i get sick I just force my self to cough it all up and hack it out of my system and I get better sooner.

I thought the older Kaplan tests are reall crappy, but the newer ones (which unfortunately don't have score conversions yet) were pretty similar. I don't know if you have access to those though since you aren't taking the course.

secondaries are rolling in wohooo!

Hey guys, I got my Pitt and Penn secondaries today, but I am starting to look at them as a lost cause (and lost $$). I am pretty far out of their MCAT ranges. I LOVED working at Penn last summer and it would be a dream to go there, but should I even waste the money? Sorta the same thing with Pitt...

I work with small children, so it's habit to call it "yucky green stuff" or "green goo" or plain old "uckies".

I ended up taking the rest of the day off to settle in with my box of Kleenex (with aloe!) and trashy magazines and popsicles. Oh, and SDN periodically.

BTW - did A-man get his scores yet?????

feel better 🙂 and get lots of 😴

I'm at one of the hospitals today, doing rounds and clinic with the adolescent med department. So far, so good. It doesn't count as shadowing b/c technically it's my job.. but I learned why specific gravity is important today!

Arsenic- congrats on your score b/c I know you kicked that test's @$$!!!!!!!!!

If you submitted your AMCAS there, you should complete the secondaries. You never know what will happen. Penn is usually pretty picky about numbers, but again, you never know.
