I brought those kaplan flashcards on the plane on my way to LA this past spring break.....I started looking through them and the girl next to me noticed....she was a med student at drexel and busted out her materials for Step 1......how random is that!

that rocks

Hey guys!

Back from the long weekend. Totally fun! Lots of sun, boating, an beers. Oh, and fireworks. We even ended up buying $350 worth of fireworks to bring home and have fun with (illegally of course in IL).

Anyway, I'm going to go recuperate.

You guys were talkative this weekend!!!!!!

It was funny because she was showing a lot of the stereotypical med student traits......she looked exhausted and kept falling asleep.

she also told me a frustrating story: she took the MCAT without a prep course and wasn't happy with her score, so she dished out $1500 for a Kaplan course and got a lower score 🙁

I felt so bad for her

What do you guys think about extending the time period in med school to say like a 5/6 year program? Extending the basic sciences years to be flexible if wanted.

I think it's a good idea in some cases.

GW has this option, 5 year program for students who are a little behind in basic sciences but show serious potential

Waste of time IMO. Basic Sciences don't seem as crucial as residency. If anything shorten the hours on that and make them a bit longer.

i think its great for some people but i'd rather it be 3 years. one of our deans told us during orientation that med school really should be shortened to 3 the way law school is. 4th year is mostly a joke anyways, what a waste of time and money.

I could never be an entomologist. I'm looking at bug pictures trying to identify an annoying little bug I keep finding in my house but I'm seriously getting the heebie-jeebies from all these pictures.

YUCK!

The one bug I can't stand is a Silverfish

I hate hate hate hate silverfish

I think mine is either a springtail or a saw-tooth beetle. I'm going to try to get a good pic of one later (hard because it's only 1mm big) and send it into this site I found for identification.

I'm so pumped for the all star game

PNC Park is amazing....too bad the Phillies couldn't capitalize on their stadium
woohoo, PNC park is SO awesome. i love it. the tickets are super cheap, and the best part is that they have quaker steak and lube wings right there. 😍

so guys, i am pretty sure i'm going to get this butcher cart for my kitchen. i need more storage and prep space, and this is mobile, so i think it'll work great. what do you think?

butcher cart

Thanks - I seriously feel like I'm on the verge of a panic attack from all the bug pictures I just looked at.

I think we have a saw-toothed grain beetle infestation. :barf: They supposedly feed on processed grain stuff - so then why am I finding them upstairs too where there is no food???

meg--sounds like a great time!

It was a blast. Except my husband lost his wedding ring in the lake right outside my parent's house.

I kept telling him we'll get him a new one but he got so upset it made him sick. Eventually I got him drunk and convinced him that it wasn't the end of the world.

I get my Calc test back tomorrow :scared:

I got As on my physio exams 👍
