whats funny is that a lot of animals actually do have bones that serve the purpose shown in the diagram. walrus' for example.

we learned about it one day when the head animal guy at Miami's Metro Zoo came to give us an animal sexuality lecture in med school. it was awesome. he even passed around the walrus bone. :laugh:
 
ok, just saying hi guys. i have a lot of errands to run today since i was in the hospital from 545am-7pm everyday but once this week, and that time i got home at 5 something. my call night is tonight from 7PM-8AM tomorrow morning. I havent been ignoring the ramdomites, I've just been really busy. Hope you all have a great weekend, good luck to those of you studying for the mcat!

I forgot which animal show host it was, but the guy appeared on the Tonight Show. He gave Jay Leno a walrus penis bone as a gift. 😀
 
I have spent so much of the last week dictating that I am losing my voice.

My pile is getting smaller at an alarming slow rate. I am going to go home and take a nap. Will come back and finish this evening.

OK, serious question - anybody have any idea for food (a hot meal, not like an apple) that is extremely easy and fast to prepare (like less than 5 minutes max), filling, and has some actual nutrients in it? I am going to be the world's first fat malnourished person at this pace.

I told you, Lean Pockets. Throw some canned green beans on the plate next to it, and you have all sorts of things that are good for you. Not to mention, it is a solid! :laugh: Also, it can be taken for lunch!

Another idea, for breakfast, (that is the meal that you have not celebrated in quite a while)...Egg Beaters and toast. Filling, full of protein, put the toast in first and then deal with the Egg Beaters...5 mins MAX. Add some OJ or top the toast with some Polaner All Fruit (YUM)...I love it.

Yay for breakfast!

Since I started my diet, I've been eating a piece of toast with hummus or baba ghanoush and two hardboiled egg whites. Either veggie juice or grapefruit juice.

I'm not so much a fan of the Lean Pockets, but maybe beary will like them more than I did! 🙂 The Weight Watchers frozen dinners are not bad at all... I had tried them years ago and they sucked, but they appear to have made some significant improvements!
 
I think I'm going to start another load of laundry and then take a nap.

I have about 8 evals to write up today, but I'm going to save that for tonight.

Then tomorrow when all the laundry is done and put away, I can clean the kitchen, laundry room, living room, bathroom, and guest room for when my parents come.

The rest of the house my husband can tackle since he's off this week!
 
it has been raining since yesterday ...... not a good motivator to study i want to sleep instead 🙁

ok, here it is, beary. pay attention:

JLW's Quick and Easy and Relatively Healthy Pasta Salad Recipe Which Can Be Made on the Weekend And Last an Entire Week

(aka, Pasta Salad)

1 box pasta of your choice (best options: bowties, rotini, or penne, can be whole wheat)
assorted veggies (I typically use broccoli, cauliflower, grape tomatoes, and red/orange/yellow peppers)
1 bottle salad dressing of your choice (italian works great, as does ranch or poppyseed)


1. Cook the entire contents of box of pasta until tender. Allow it to cool, put in large bowl.
2. Chop up veggies. Add to cooled pasta.
3. Dump about 2/3 of the bottle of salad dressing over the whole thing. Stir, or if the bowl has a lid, slap it on and shake it up. Add more salad dressing as needed, remembering that some of it will be absorbed into the pasta.
4. Chow down.

Also, you can add other stuff in- for example, some shredded chicken for protein, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped almonds or walnuts..... go crazy!
 
oh and let us not forget

JLW's Yummy and Quick Curried Chicken Salad

1. Boil a couple of skinless, boneless chicken breasts. Cool, then shred into a large bowl.
2. Add Miracle Whip or mayo (you'll figure out how much, and yes, it can be fat-free)
3. Sprinkle in curry powder to taste. This gives it "oomph" without making it so hot you'll burn your mouth off.
4. Halve a bunch of grapes (red or green, doesn't matter), fold into chicken salad mixture.
5. Add in chopped walnuts if desired (and actually in the house).

Serve with crackers or as a sandwich.

Yummers!

Depends on how much chicken you cook how long this will last. And I'll boil/shred a bunch at once, then keep it sealed to throw into salads or make smaller portions of this..
 
how to make your therapist's weekend:
threaten to OD on Tylenol, then retract, so that when your mother calls the therapist and asks what to do, your mother can ignore the therapist's suggestions b/c "we have other things to do" and you "didn't actually take any of the pills anyway".

Yay for Saturdays.

(The suggestion was- go to the ER so a face-to-face assessment can be done b/c I'm sure as hell not going into the office to do it today.. plus, they can do a u/a and see if there's a tylenol level. Is this so out-there?????)

That is the most awesome picture I have ever seen. Would you rather have rabies? The Chinese Govt is send a clear and strong message that they cannot, and will not tolerate this kind of disease in their society.

Frankly, I wish they employed this practice regularly in the US. But instead of sticks, they could use dildos! That would be hilarious! LOL LOL OMG LOL LOL

Kudos to China for their progressive public health agenda!

What a pain in the @ass. Here I am, busting my butt trying to get my work done. I asked and was explicity told that the grossing room is NEVER locked. (We have keys hidden in here for our offices, the reading rooms, etc.). So I get here, you guess it, locked. There is NOBODY around. I went down to the ER to ask one of the docs if there is security or somebody around. This nice doc took me down to the "VA police office" which was of course locked. I knocked and could hear somebody moving around in there, but did they answer? No. So I banged and banged having a hissy fit and finally he opened the door.

Huge, fat "cop" in full "cop gear" including handcuffs, mace, etc. Hahahaha. Anyway, I'm like, yeah, I'm a path resident, trying to DO WORK, room locked, can you let me in? He's like, well, geez, I don't think so. Calls his supervisor. Yada yada yada. Basically calls the flipping FBI. Finally, he agrees to come let me in. That little escapade just took about an hour.

after my score today as well I think I should do the same........i'm so bitter right now....i thought i'd improve but i scored my lowest, so frustrating
