They're in Watkins Glen, NY this weekend. Here next weekend. I am SO excited. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about something. Well, I guess med school graduation. 😀

a lot of the mods changed their titles to that after someone complained to a bunch of mods that one of us was "way rude and dictator" for moving a thread about sex out of the academic forums and into the lounge. the funny thing is that afterward he said it was a "buncha bullcrabs". thats why lee changed his title from admin emeritus to buncha bullcrabs emeritus. :laugh:

you want to hear something random? our main attending in OB, the associate department head, says "I don't want parrots, I want EAGLES." he just wants us to be our best and not just float through this but i thought it was hilarious the first time i heard it, just imagine that statement coming out of the mouth of a very serious older attending.

It has been quite a night here - and I'm worried it's going to get more exciting.

There is a brush fire burning in the hills right by my house. I'm guessing 2 miles away ... maybe .... I can see it very clearly out the windows. There haven't been any evacuations that I've heard about (and all my neighbors still seem to be home) but I'm a little scared to go to bed. Anyone know how neighborhoods are notified if they need to evacuate? :scared:

The latest news updates are from 3 hours ago and talk about the fire threatening homes considerably west of us. The fire it just barely northwest of my house now so it has me concerned that there aren't any more recent updates.

And I don't know what is wrong with the baby - but she just screamed herself to sleep for an hour before finally passing out from exhaustion on me. She wouldn't nurse, didn't want to be put down, didn't want to be held, so I just walked her around for an hour while she screamed hysterically. She's teething, but I never thought it could make them *that* upset. 🙁 Poor little girl!

Anyway, between the fire and the screaming baby I have a feeling it's going to be a long night.

As long as the wind doesn't blow south (it never blows south, right??) we should be fine.

I hope it's just the teeth - she's getting a bunch right now I think. It's just weird to me because I could never tell when my older one was teething.

I'm eating lamb and a whole slew of fried potatoes for dinner! I don't care about my cholesterol right now, the MCAT is what's gonna kill me anyway! I've never eaten so much lamb in my life since I came to Australia...
