Well not really. Just popping in. My computer has been quarantined and I only got on to check my practice test. Pretty miserable score.

Was this AAMC 8? Have you seen that thread about it? People says it's not representative. How did you do? You were in the 32-35 range before.

Man, I'm on the AMCAS "on hold" line. It's been like 15 minutes!

Yes it was 8. I got a 13,8,11

When I was taking I didn't feel right during the verbal so I knew it was going to be bad but wasn't expecting an 8. Thats what really got me pissed.

Good notes: Missed less gen chem than physics on PS. Missed only 1 organic question on BS.

Bad notes: Lots of biology to review, going to sleep with my verbal book these last two nights and erect an alter to sacrifice my first born to the VR gods.

That's not bad at all! It sounded like you dropped to a 25, lol! I'm about to start 7 in 20 minutes. My verbal average is an 8 so maybe AAMC 8 will kill me.

Btw, the guy I talked to at AMCAS really didn't know anything. I wasted 20 long distance minutes.

Hit that bio hard, and take it easy on the ochem since you sound like you have that down. I only had 1 ochem passage and 2 discretes on my whole bio section. I just have a feeling that ochem is being tested less and less on the MCAT, almost everyone I know who took it with me said they also had very little ochem.

Yeah...considering how I was only done with bio 3 of 9 in EK, I think I can improve pretty easily.

Damn immuno and population biology to hell.

Those are my favorite topics. But I'd especially know genetics if I were you. That was big when I took it last year.

I got my car towed in Baltimore this weekend 🙁 So much for my poker winnings...

On the bright side, University of Maryland is amazing, literally right next to the inner harbor. My gf is very excited/sad/scared.

I kicked butt on the Verbal on 8. I know I know this isn't the thread to discuss MCAT.

But I'll take that 13 in Physical from you any day. That would have been awesome to achieve but the PS on AAMC 8 was horrendous.

Ok so what's cooking with everyone?

amazing? Hmm, guess you didn't see the area that its located 😛

I think they have a great school but the location is 100% suckage. My friend who is PGY-2 graduated there and I visited him a few times. He gave me a tour of the place and we were ok on hospital grounds, but watch crossing the street to the McD's. 😱

*waves to TypeA* I got a book to look over for MCAT while I'm home. So now I have to start reading from it. Blah.

I want to take either spanish or sign language this fall. I don't have the time for the class though!!

See, I thought the area was actually really nice. My gf is living in probably the coolest graduate living complex I have ever seen, she can literally see inside Oriole Park and M&T Bank Stadium, and everything is brand new. The hospital is so close to her that she could probably hit it with a rock. She can see Edgar Allen Poe's Grave from her window! And the area where University of Maryland Baltimore grad schools are located beats Hopkins any day (I thought Hopkins was in a little hell hole compared to UMD  ) She is also a 5 minute walk from the inner harbor and there are tons of new bars, restaurants, and other cool places to visit. I stayed with her for 2 days and loved it, and Baltimore really exceeded my expectations as far that area is concerned.

Granted, Baltimore does have a bad rep in general, and I did not get a chance to go through the entire city. But from what I did see, UMD>>>>>>>>>>>Hopkins as far as living area is concerned. I thought UMD was in a nicer area than most of the Philly schools too (with the exception of Penn and Maybe Jefferson)

Well they have cleaned up that area, and I was mostly referring to the homeless people that hang out around there. Its be a year or two since I've been back so maybe they cleaned that up. It was a NOTORIOUS hang out with the liquor stores in that area as well as fast food for the homeless and bums.

I found that Baltimore is very spotty. Intead of large sections of bad areas, it's like specific blocks here and there. I think they have made a huge cleanup around the UMD area though, because there are now 2 sets of police that patrol the area by bike 24/7 (University Police and Baltimore Police)

I was thinking about heading up to the MCAT study room at my ugrad to help some people out with questions for the August MCAT - but I wonder if that kind of stressing is contagious or not.

That would be very nice of you.....just don't tell them your score, they might hate you and tell you to leave. People are weird like that

Oh and hopkins is alot worse than UMD i'm sure. As for Penn - that area actually sucks too. And Jefferson isn't that bad. Then you are in a city. Cities aren't all safe all the time. Both are obviously not "Temple" like

aw, I actually like Penn (I lived there last summer for research) but I know many people who would agree with you, and it did have it's bad moments (especially outside of the wawa)

But no, nothing can really compare to Temple

Truth is they might already know :scared: the advisor knows and so I think they might know.

Eh - I'm just trying to be nice. If they get pissed about that, it's their deal not mine. 😀

I applied to Temple because the curriculum sounded cool. Is it in a good or bad neighborhood?

Bad. Very Bad. Actually, it is not far from a place the locals call "The Badlands," considered one of the worst city area in the entire country

oh yay - might scratch that one off the list. What does a small town texas girl know about living in a bad neighborhood in a big city? 😛

 Other than the area, Temple sounds like a great school to me also. Are you from College Station or Houston? You might have told me but I forget.

I was born in DFW but really grew up in a little town west of San Antonio and went to college in college station. Belfast is actually the biggest city I've ever lived in

I don't know, but this small town Georgia boy went reckless in the streets and subways of Manhattan at 3 am 😱

The post-doc that I worked with last summer was from Belfast (he graduated from Queen's). How is it there? I am thinking about taking a trip to Ireland next summer.

Belfast is scary. 😉 I was there during a cease fire but I was still worried the whole time.

Dublin was really fun - there was a ton of stuff to do there. I spent most of my time in southern Ireland, though where my sister was living.

I was right - it was fifth disease. I like it when I'm right about those things. 😉

Don't even waste your money on medical school, you already know it

I really don't know much about the current events in Ireland but people keep telling me that it's not safe! :scared:

I might go to Dublin, my best friend's sister works for Google in Dublin
