Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

I personally never got the hype for all racing leagues, I mean guys drive around in cars for 500 miles, seems boring, but thats just me

It sounds like F1 is better, but Indy seems more popular. Maybe it's Danica

F1 is more popular, well just not in the US. F1 brings in around 600+ million views a race since it's worldwide. Indy...maybe 5% of that.

The highest paid F1 driver right now makes $45mm from his salary (from the team, not endorsements). He makes the same amount in endorsements every year, so 90 total. He could run 10 Indy teams with that. The F1 drivers that get paid (because some actually PAY to drive), get over 15 million. The best get 30+. Again, all salary from team, not including endorsements.

One of the reasons I think F1 isn't as popular is because either:

1) It's a European thing and most Americans don't want to associate with that.
2) It's a once a year road show to the US. More like a traveling circus, not a here to stay visiting all over the US.
3) Already a lot of other things for us Americans to keep occupied. NFL, NBA, NCAA sports, MLB, NASCAR, NHL, on and on...

I think number 1 says it all. Same goes for Fifa

I'm helping my dad put in new spark plugs in his Corvette today 😀

One goal of mine this year off is to learn how to work on cars and what all the parts are. My dad knows so much about this stuff since it's been a hobby of his. I feel left out

I think another thing is that both don't get much tv time over here.

At least for F1, we have Speed TV televise the races (not everyone's cable has this). 4 races out of the 18 were tape delayed on CBS. Terrible commentating. I think it just did the sport bad for new viewers. At least they showed races at convenient times at like 1PM.

Since F1 goes all over the world, race times change based on your local. So for the US race in Indianapolis, it'll be around 2PM my time (EST) since they're on Central time. However, for say Malaysia, it's 2 AM over here. How many people will be up watching a race at 2 AM? Even worse, right now they're in Istanbul, Turkey with a 7AM race EDT Sunday. I doubt many will be up at that time on a Sunday. Keep in mind to subtract 3 hours for people on the west coast. 4AM Sunday...sounds better to sleep, doesn't it?

Working on cars is fun, what do you know right now about them mechanically?

This is what the engine looks like

finally, male DOMINANCE. The true dominate sex has finally taken over. (top 3 out of 4 posters are male as of now)

Bow down women, bow down

jk 🙂

Alright i'm outtie, the view from the top was nice but i'm sure the next time I post I'll be in like 13th place

later peeps

I missed the demise of Quatro! And 12 pages already! :wow:

That will teach me to go out on a Friday night. :meanie:

Softsoap makes a variety for the kitchen that is amazing. I am a garlic and onion freak...no smells here! (Oh, and thannk goodness for Arm and Hammer toothpaste and Colgate Total!!!😉 )
Do you use them on your hands too? 😛

I have the urge to bake...but that means I have to go get groceries. I hate grocery shopping on weekends. Too many people with cart rage. Too many people, period.
I agree. I have to deposit my loan check and I'm dreading having to go there.

Oh, I'd just pour straight lemon juice on my hands. Probably best to avoid that if you have any cuts on your hands
OUCH. Yeah I have cuticle issues, better no do that.
I'm going to see invincible today with my parents

This could be the only thing I cheer for this Eagles season
I really want to see this movie  Why only thing? 🙁

and if you go in the morning then there are too many old ppl clogging up the aisles. go in the afternoon too many annoying kids. go at night scary people. there is just never a good time for grocery shopping.

LOL. The grocery store I shop at has aisles only wide enough for two carts. One time these two women were coming towards me side by side. Eventually one slowed her pace a bit so I didn't get mowed down. And children...I like kids most of the time...but some of them are so obnoxious in the grocery store and their parents blissfully igonore their behaviour. It's one thing to have misbehaving kids, but it's doubly bad for parents not to care. /end rant

my little sister runs around but you can always find her by the lobster tank or the pudding

In short, F1 is better than Indy.

j/k 🙂

A short summary:

1 a.) Indy Racing League has genertic chassis tubs and generic spec (rev limited also) engines. Each team buys them and their cars are nearly identical.

1 b.) F1 is based on technology and development. Each chassis is custom made by each team. Each team has their own engine. Some teams even build their own engines. This leads to soaring costs.

2 a.) To run an Indy team, you can do it on as little as around $5 mm (five).

2 b.) To START an F1 team, the entry ticket is $45mm (forty five). The top teams spend $500mm+ (1/2 a billion) a year running their program.

3 a.) No manufacturers have their own teams in IRL. It's all privateer.

3 b.) F1 has five manufacturer teams. BMW, Ferrari, Renault, Toyota, and Honda each own and operate their own teams. Mercedes owns 40% of their team Mercedes McLaren (as in the Mercedes McLaren SLR road car).

4 a.) Road courses for Indy are mainly oval and mainly in the US. There are a couple overseas (i.e. Japan) and a couple road courses.

4 b.) F1 is a worldwide event. They have 18 races all over the world and ALL are road courses, no oval racing. Locations: Bahrain, Turkey (currently here), US, Canada, Japan, China, Malaysia, Australia, Germany (two times), Italy, France, England, Hungary, Belgium (used to be), etc.

5 a.) Competition is more driver-styled in Indy since the cars are almost identical. You see a lot of new faces in the winners circle.

5 b.) F1 isn't like this. The car plays a huge factor and this is probably that worst part of the sport. It leads to only a few guys winning everytime (either Ferrari or Renault this season). Back in 2004, Ferrari won every race except one. Yea, not too exciting. Other than that season and 2002 (same thing), it's been great.

Oh yea, the races are only 1.5 hours, which is good for me because I can't seem to have an attention span for racing that is 2 hours or more. Some races get boring though since there's little passing (something that IRL and NASCAR have A LOT of).

Edit: Don't get me wrong though. I don't think one is better than the other. I can see the pros and cons of each racing series, but I just prefer F1 the most. I like seeing how the teams come up with new designs and components and most get banned within a year (lol). I still like NASCAR, though. Can't get enough of 3 wide going 14 deep at 190 in Daytona. 😀

wow that's a long post--if you were a real postwhore you would have broken that up into like 20 different posts
