Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

You should be fine. Not everyone can save babies in Africa after graduation. NP is certainly a better option than HST.

Looking at those topics has really made me start to really think about a serious job on Monday. I have to look for a research place nearby here (which is tough in Orlando).

Dude, what is up with these schools that have multiple essays. It's not like it's the only one we're applying to!

Couldn't agree more! I don't think those essays even add much to an application. Don't they realize they'd get more applications and could be more selective if they cut the crap out? 😡

So I guess the AAMC decided to be smart this time and make it official that scores would be out by October 14th!!!!! Woooooohooooooo

Man, that skit brings back some good memories from SNL back in 2000. They would make so much fun of Al Gore and the Lock Box. Same with GW and "strategery."

Wow, so they finally decided to make things easier for both their customer service department and pre-meds in general. That's a first. 👍

Right now this is my list:

UF, FSU, USF, Maimi, Mayo, Harvard NP, UPenn.

Unsure: JHS, Yale, Northwestern.

Of course this all depends on my MCAT score, lol!

Why not Washington University or some of the top 20's that are not necessarily IVY leagues like UPitt, Vandy, or UMich????

Who's your favorite driver? I can't say anymore because it was JPM so I will watch some of his next year in Winston Cup. Favorite teams are BMW Sauber and Williams (of course because it used to be BMW Williams).

Haha, it's Nextel Cup now. Just for the last 4 years or so. 😉

Yeah that's another one.

Or UChicago Pritzker??

But ok enugh about med school talk. I'm back in tampa. HOOOOOORAYYYYY!!!!!!

I'm bored out of my mind.

LOL! Durden and I already discussed why we're not applying to UChicago, the essays!!! Other than that, Chicago is probably my favorite city.

I'm not sure about the other schools you listed. The list I made it just what I've come up with so far, nothing set in stone. I have been looking at UMich, but again, haven't looked much into it. Other than that, it will REALLY come down to my MCAT score. If say I get no more than a 30, you can scratch off UPenn and Harvard in no time. I just rather have my $105 (75+30) vs. a very small chance at getting in. If I get a 28, I'm not applying this cycle and retaking.

Morning peeps! JLW's not feeling well? I'm so sorry!! Hopefully, the workday will go by super fast and you will get to jump back in bed for some rest. I am going to spend the day doing a variety of things...the most important of which being studying up on Bio that I took 12 years ago. 😎

I might study some histo today!

Though, there is a PGY-1 in the world who JUST NOW got up, yes, at 2:45 ET. 🙂 It feels fabulous. I actually feel sort of like a normal person!

So, going to take a shower, do a load of laundry, go shopping for my niece (she wants a little doctor kit 😍 ), and then sit down for NASCAR RaceDay and the night race at Bristol!!!!!!

Will be a FABULOUS and very exciting race, if anybody happens to be starting to get interested in NASCAR. 😉

danke

so the Mt Dew was to compensate for the lack of sleep. however, the hospital cafeteria has a Dairy Queen. so if the throat starts up again, I can just meander downstairs for a cool and tasty treat 😀

Wow, nice!! Our hospital just has a Wendy's. I do get a Frosty sometimes for a cool and tasty treat. 🙂 But would prefer a Dairy Queen, for sure.

Really??? Tampa General has a Starbucks, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Pizza Place and a few other places.

Although, I disagree with the idea of places like McDonald's in a hospital. The hospital should be there to promote good health and not fast food chains full of the nastiest most unhealthy foods.

Edit: Don't get me wrong though. I don't think one is better than the other. I can see the pros and cons of each racing series, but I just prefer F1 the most. I like seeing how the teams come up with new designs and components and most get banned within a year (lol). I still like NASCAR, though. Can't get enough of 3 wide going 14 deep at 190 in Daytona. 😀

Wow, really interesting summary! I must admit, I have never watched too much F1. The few road courses that the NASCAR circuit does I generally don't enjoy too much. The passing is my favorite part of the sport. I watch the Indy 500 in IRL, and that's about it. I will have to check out some more F1.

There's like eleventy billon starbucks in TMC. Cracks me up

It sounds like F1 is better, but Indy seems more popular. Maybe it's Danica

Ugh. Danica annoys the heck out of me. I am SO GLAD she decided not to come to NASCAR. Did you see her little temper tantrum a few weeks ago? No other driver could get away with that.

Renault and the FIA (Federal de International Automobile, somethign French like that) went to court recently. The Renault F1 car had a mass damper in the nose cose. They'v been using it for over a year now and a few other teams had used it, but they never figured it out. What it was was a liquid filled cavity with a 5lb weight (free moving). As the car would go over bumps in the road, it would dampen the car's movement and make the drive steady. It's used in high-rise buildings for ground movement. The FIA told them that it's illegal since it goes against the rule of "moveable aero devices." Even though it's enclosed in liquid, they said it was an aero device by make the air over the car clean and steady. Pretty stupid call imo. Needless to say, the court said it was illegal and they can't run it anymore. Supposedly their car was designed around this system and they're not that fast.

Right now Ferrari might get in trouble. The rear wheels made by BBS have this carbon plate on the outside that makes it smooth. Ferrari says it's to help cool the brakes, but it supposedly can smooth out the air flow around the wheel to indirectly make a moveable aero (rotating) device.

Another problem that some say about F1 is the tires. There are two manufacturers, Michelin and Bridgestone. Both companies have advantages/disadvantages depending on the condition and they are pretty different. Recently, the Ferraris have done well on the soft compounds, but Michelin has done better on the hard and wet weather. Three weeks ago in Hungary it was raining so they had to use the intermediate and wet tires and they dominated. No need for the "monsoon" tires this season. Btw, I'm serious, they're called monsoon tires. LOL! Probably another thing I like about F1. Rain or shine, they race. Only last year for qualifying they were delayed because a typhoon went through Japan...

Danica annoys me as well. She seems to whine too much and I'm glad she isn't going to NASCAR. Those guys won't put up with her crap. Oh yea, Jacques Villeneuve was fired from the BMW Sauber F1 team. He won the championship back in his 2nd season of F1 in the Williams F1 car. After that, he never won a thing. There has been rumors of him gonig to NASCAR next year. We will see. 😎

Wow. Goodyear makes all the NASCAR tires and all the teams are given the same tires for each race. That is really cool that F1 races during rain or shine. I know they did some r&d about using rain tires for NASCAR, but somehow that ended up not going anywhere.

It's WAY too dangerous for ran in NASCAR on the ovals. They're going very fast around corners. The fastest F1 cars get up to is 230mph at Monza, but that's on a straight with the upcoming corner having a HUGE gravel trap with no spectators in the way of a crashing car.

Btw, here's the pic of the Ferrari I forgot to post. http://www.f1total.com/news/images_big/14916.jpg

Let me find a few pics from 3 weeks ago in the rain.

The whie/red stripes you see the Ferrari are where the Marlboro ads should be. The EU and US don't allow cigarette ads (well, US allows for 1 race series, and that's IRL Marlboro Penske).

yeah so last night at work this homeless man, who was mentally ill thought that I was a pimp and the nurses were my bitches... he also handed me an oxycontin and said he got an extra one for me... psychiatry sounds kind of fun sometimes

I got one of these fancy new vibrating razors. What is the point of them?

Well, I'm going to try it in the shower right now, so maybe I will just find out myself.
