Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

One thing I didn't like about cruises I've been on was the assigned seating. Sorry cruise companies, I like to eat only with my family and friends on vacation, NOT strangers however nice they are.

I'm not really a cruise guy unless there's a 24-hour dessert thing, which I can't seem to find. Carnival only had 24-hour pizza and twirled ice cream things. The other cruise I went on (3 day) had a 2AM dessert buffett.

Being stuck on a boat for sometimes days at a time wasn't that fun imo, lol.

Damn you definitely have to try NCL...they have a chocolate buffet.....although I'm not really looking forward to seeing it for the 3rd time.

God, so many people pile up their plates (and btw, not just one plate) as if they'll run out of food. I can't even finish a plateful and I 😍 anything chocolate. Looking at these peoples plates makes me wanna :barf:

First time we went cruising, they asked my hubby and I if we wanted to share our table and we said sure. NEVER AGAIN!!!! It was the most awkward moment. Yeah it's hard to enjoy your meal when you have strangers at your table.

No cheesecake?!

Oh man just talking about it makes me excited!!!! Can't wait!

How long is the cruise? Our 7 day cruise was pushing it...I cannot understand those who go on 10-14 day cruises, insane. 5 days would be nice.

Yeah they do have a gym. Actually seeing so much food makes you not wanna eat so much. We try to avoid the buffet and always go to the sit down restaurants.

7 days....we've done 12 days 2 yrs ago. It was fun!

You live in Fla....you have a good selection there! But as for us, would not want to go back to the same places....always need something new.

I'd like to rent a car and drive through a bunch of countries once instead of a cruise. Maybe a trip along the coast of Africa or southern Europe?

Yeah my in-laws just came back from an Alaskan cruise. After seeing the pictures, I don't think I wanna go there.....maybe in several years. Our last 2 cruises had a lot of people.

Actually our plan is to take a European vacation once I get in to med school. Was thinking about backpacking at first, but we'll see.

What kind of cabin are you getting and what deck?

Both of ours were I think 1 deck below the main. For Carnival, we had a window (huge), but no balcony. For the second cruise, interior cabin with no windows. Didn't make much a difference imo. It was actually kind of cool since you can't see the waves and boat moving, but you could feel it.

This time we got an ocean view (got inside cabin last 2 times on 8th floor)...don't know what deck yet....they assign it to us. Don't really care so much about the room 'cause we stay so little in it.

What ports of call did you go to for Western Caribbean?

What ports of call did you go to for Western Caribbean?

Playa Del Carmen, MX (for literally 30 minutes at 6AM, so stupid) then to Cozmel for probably 8 hours. Then the Grand Cayman Islands for another 8 or so hours. Last was Jamaica. You wouldn't believe how anyone there would try to sell you something. As soon as we got off the ship, there had to be over 1,000 people trying to sell us stuff or taxi drivers saying they'll take us to shopping areas. Other than that, really cool country.

Anybody been to Belize or Guatemala? Those are 2 of the ports of call. I hope it's fun....sounds exotic.

My parents went to Belize for 2 weeks in Jan 2005. They and 3 other couples rented a house owned by Jerry Jeff Walker (country music singer - contemporary of Buffett and john Prine).

They loved where they were at but said Belize City was dirty.

They caught their own lobsters and cooked them!

There wasn't much to do for my near the end of the 7 days on the Carnival so I just watched TV, ahah. I think I saw Home Alone 3 more than once unfortunately...

I've never been on a formal cruise - my folks went on one this March in the Caribbean.

I did take a nice dive trip to the Bahamas and was on a liveaboard dive boat for 10 days. It was awesome - 5 dives a day * 8 days. hit some storms though that really had the boat rocking. 👍 for Dramamine!

We're going to W. Carib this time (Costa Maya, MX; Belize; Guatemala; Cozumel, MX). Went to Hawaii 1st time and S. Carib 2nd time. So far nothing beats Hawaii as far as islands as of yet.

I don't remember what city my brother went to on another Carnival with our friends. He went to the Aztek or Mayan stuff. We didn't do much in Cozumel except go to stores. They wanted to be paid in US dollars.

For the record...in the words of VD: "I know that I have said I love garlic in the past, but I don't LOOOOOOVE garlic." lol  That route was NEVER an option!

Out of curiousity, we were discussing using lemon juice to get the garlic and onion smell of of Mushy's hands earlier... how excactly would one go about getting the garlic smell out of one's crotch?

Yeah when we went to Hawaii, we had to go to Fanning Island ....south of Hawaii (for some reason we needed to go to an international island) and the waves were crazyyyyyyyy. 👍 for Dramamine.

Cozumel makes me think that it'll be similar to St. Thomas....hope not!

New Zealand kicks Hawaii's @ss!

Oh never been......both hubby and I do have family down under....they've been bugging us to visit them.....maybe if we go to Australia we need to make a stop there too.

Cruising is so much fun.....but I think we'll need a change after this.....hopefully I get accepted to med school in 2008 so we can finally go to Europe, lol.

I think it's either you hate it or you love it....some of my friends swear they'll never go back, but it's always good to try.

This is the boat I was diving from....

I think I'll be scared to dive....went snorkeling in Key West and didn't really like it...that's the closest to diving I'll ever get 😀 . Plus can't swim really well 😳 .

Holy Cow! There so much to see/do in NZ that I always recommend a MINIMUM of 2 weeks and preferably 1-2 months for people to see everything in NZ. It's so much different than Oz - North is tropical with volcanos/mountains/blue lagoons and such, central very fertile and hilly, south island mostly mountainous with glaciers and fjords. Think Lord of the Rings - it was all filmed there. Same for Xena and Hercules.

Sounds awesome! How long did you stay? I think I better start calling the family 😀

Well most likely it would be a honeymoon cruise or something of that nature so you still advise against it?

I'm not married so I wouldn't know. For a honeymoon or something with that kind of importance, I'd suggest South Africa. I went there back in the summer of 2000. Amazing country. We went to Krugar National Park and went on the day and night safaris, incredible. We went all along the coasts, too. Reminds me of California with all the cliffs and stuff, very picturesque. Cape Town is a pretty cool city, too. Nice people.
